Summertime Brings Family Reunions

Our theme this week is Family Reunion Time.  Traditionally these reunions have taken place in the summertime, when relatives gather for small and large gatherings.  My husband’s family gets together the last Saturday of July and this year it was a grand time, as usual.
Begun 27 years ago, when Jim’s uncle started his family tree search and decided to gather the many branches, the reunions have continued annually, even though the originator is gone.  Each year, we seem to have new family members discovering us and sharing information.

Redneck Games

So last weekend was my big gigantic family reunion. When I say big I mean the original members of the reunion were my grandmother’s cousins. They were Mormons who congregated in a little colony of Mormons in the deep South. They had a lot of kids. My great-grandmother was one of 16, she had 13, my grandmother had 6, mom had 4, I have 2. Evidently the trick to not having so many kids is having access to birth control, but I digress.
