Think of high season as being the very peak time to visit, with all favorable conditions (snow in winter, sun in summer, everything is open and operable, etc).  In such perfect conditions, prices are also going to be perfect. . . perfectly high.  There are going to be lots of crowds, too, and high season often coincides with times that the kids aren’t in school.

Travel Theme Week for Families

This week our theme is Travel, and that can take on many aspects.  You might travel locally, as we discussed in Week 1 of the Summer Theme Weeks.  Or you may be undertaking a longer venture.
If your summer involves traveling, do you need activities to keep youngsters busy on long rides, in airports and on planes.  Whatever did my parents do with four of us in a car in the days before electronics?

Not only does the coaster offer breathtaking, first-ever maneuvers and speeds up to 65MPH, but also features audio and video components for a very unique ride experience.
Riders can pick their own soundtrack from five genres of music (rap/hip hop, country, classic rock/metal, pop/disco and club/electronica). The music is then blasted …read more

My husband and I celebrated our 8th year wedding anniversary this week, and like we do every year, we go away for one week. But unlike the previous years, we didn’t have concrete plans of where to go, what to do or see. We just wanted to spend time together, away from our daily routine. So we drove and drove and drove (see map with yellow brush line).
Boy, was it an adventure!
We spent several days at Virginia Beach, and the sun was …read more
