Rural Design Project in Skye

Don’t you think it’d be nice to live somewhere called Skye? I do. This little beauty is located at the north west edge of Skye, Western Isles. I really love this house. Of course the oddball shaping is nice, but what I like best is the color contrast. It’s surprisingly stark but overall soothing. Yes, that makes no sense; my brain is just thinking thoughts as I type.

When I lived in Humboldt, I liked …read more

Many of the houses that flooded were not in a flood plain but because of a rapid increase in building around us the water run-off was more than the creek could handle and at 2 in the morning I was in flood water up to my armpits in my front yard with sheep and goats in my laundry room, chickens on the front porch, and my husband and I leading horses to the higher ground by the road.
We were very …read more
