Photos of the Fiber Divas’ Gallery Exhibit

It’s exciting to see some photos of the Fiber Divas’ gallery show since I haven’t been able to visit it yet.  One of the Divas’ (Lynn) took photos when she was interviewed for a newspaper story.  My daughter Beth, another Diva, posted them on her Meandering Threads blog, Fiber Divas’ Exhibit.  The Gilford (NH) Public Library has proven an ideal location for the show, and they have really nice show cases to add interest and security for the Fiber Divas’ items.    The fiber art will be on display through the end of November.

Quilt Art Display Leads to Newspaper Story

In the post, Quilts for a Gallery Showing, I described how my daughter and her Fiber Diva friends were setting up a display of their quilts and fiber art at the Gilford (NH) Public Library.  She received word today that the showing was so well received the local newspaper wanted to interview members of the group and do a story.
You never know where displays and festivals will lead.  You never know who will see your work and want to contact you.  You never know what sales will result.

Quilters & Recipes

Most quilters enjoy cooking, too, and frequently look for recipes to share.  Ever since the pioneer quilting bees, women brought foods along and exchanged recipes.
My grandfather mentioned this in his writing. (He was a newspaper columnist in addition to being a farmer).  Grandfather Coon described his mother going to quilting gatherings at the neighbor’s where the ladies also served refreshments.
When my daughter and her Fiber Divas group get together for work and planning, they always have refreshments, too.  Also, they occasionally visit fabric shops, galleries, or take a class.  Then they plan on stopping at favorite resaurants for a special …read more

Fiber Divas’ Round Robin Quilting Project – New View

I previously mentioned the Round Robin quilting project my daughter’s Fiber Divas group has decided upon for this year.  They’ve all been working on it, and Beth has posted her first quilt in response to quilter Marilyn’s theme.
Check out Beth’s Meandering Threads New Quilt post to get a look at this very interesting piece of fiber art.  In Circle Doodads, she answers a viewer’s question concerning some of the embellishments.  This may give you an idea of a simple, ordinary object you can use to enhance your projects.

Round Robin Time Again for the Fiber Divas

It’s Round Robin time again for my daughter’s quilting/fiber art group, the Fiber Divas.  Each year they try something new as they each contribute to one another’s work in Round Robin format.
Beth has described the Round Robin project at her Meandering Threads blog.  Each member chooses a shape and theme.  She cuts the shape into six portions, one for each member.  Eventually, when the quilters gets all her pieces back, including the one she’s doing, she puts them together.
On this same post, Beth also shows a picture of an ATC she recently exchanged in an online project.  Are any of you still …read more
