Fight for Love

I’ve read in books that during the olden times (not in my country, in Europe perhaps) that there are times wherein two men will fight a duel because of their *love* for the same lady. It’s not legal but twas somehow understood why such a thing occurs. Thinking back to this sort of practice, I find it somehow romantic. Can you imagine two men dueling to win my hand? Omigod.

I just got back from a dinner at a friend’s house. These girls have been my friends since I was in highschool and we’ve stayed in touch over the years — over 10 years, in fact.
The conversation revolved around marriage, kids, engagements, and break ups. Of course, since I’m the only single left in the group, in a new relationship at that, I got grilled with questions regarding certain issues about the relationship, the fights, in particular.

No matter how good a friend they are.
Never ever take for granted that your current significant other will be understanding of a friendship you have with an old flame!
“It’s just lunch” — “It’s just drinks” — “It’s just a movie” will NOT fly!
Sure, it may fly for a while, but burried somewhere beneath that understanding exterior lays an argument waiting to happen.
When you least expect it, that dinner/drinks or movie will be thrown up in your face like a bucket of ice water.
