Former First Cat Ashes Spread

Former first cat Socks has found a final resting place. Some of Socks’ ashes were spread in the garden of the Little Rock, Ark governor’s mansion. Arkansas first lady Ginger Beebe read a poem she composed in honor of Socks.
The former first cat is pictured below in a photo dated 1994. Mighty handsome. . .

The urn which carried Socks’ ashes is being stored at the Clinton Presidential Library.
Socks was born in 1989, and he moved into the White House with the Clintons a few years later. The very beautiful and photogenic first kitty died of cancer earlier this year.

Should First Family Adopt a Cat?

Surely you know I think they should! After all, cats helped elect Obama. But seriously, I can see many advantages to adding a First Cat.
Everyone seems to be going a bit crazy over Bo, the new White House dog, but adding a cat to the mix would help cats in a couple ways.

A Look Back at Socks the First Cat

Image features Bill and Hillary Clinton with Socks the cat at an annual reading of T’was the Night Before Christmas at the White House. The kids seem to like having a First Cat to pet, don’t they?
It’s just all the more reason the new President should consider adding a First Cat in addition to a First Puppy. After all, cats help build character….
Ok, well, maybe cats just help build patience. But they’re also good for stress reduction.
