In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Meijer Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., is voluntarily recalling about 100 Toddler Girl�s Hat and Mitten Sets. OKK Trading Recalls TV’s for Lead

OKK Trading is recalling a plastic TV toy that has a microphone and is powered by 2 AA batteries. There is a TV painting board sticker label on the front panel and a carrying handle of the toy.
The toy has excessive levels of lead.
It was sold at OKK Toys from July 2008 until September. Please take the toy away and contact OKK trading for a refund or exchange.

Recall alert: 1.6M cribs by Delta!

Delta issued a major recall of 1.6 million drop side cribs after two infants suffocated to death when the sides detached.
The recalled cribs have two kinds of broken hardware design: 600,000 with “Crib Trigger Lock with Spring Peg” and 985,000 with “Crib Trigger Lock with Safety Peg”.
The cribs were sold between January 1995 through September 2007, so check if you already own them. If you do, please stop using them immediately. FDA rejects ban on children’s OTC cough and cold medicine

Late last year, the FDA pulled several infant cold and cough medicine off the shelves for potential misuse. The dosage information on the medicine labels were wrongly calculated based on age, not weight. Several children died because of over-medication from these products.
And then earlier this year, the agency warned against using over-the-counter cough and cold medicines for children under 2 years, and later to children up to 11 years. The American Academy of Pediatrics even weighed in that these drugs are ineffective for treating cough and cold, and so the FDA was urged to enforce a ban.

Would melamine find its way to US milk?

With three four Chinese infants dead, more than 6,000 children with kidney failure, and China’s major dairy producers testing positive for contamination of their milk products, the obvious question is –
would melamine find its way into US dairy and milk formula supplies?
Melamine is a chemical, a “trimer of cyanamide”, that is used to make plastics and fertilizers. Because of its high nitrogen content, melamine has been illegally used to increase protein content in otherwise water-down versions of liquid milk and infant milk formulas by the Chinese companies in question.
