I’ve been a fan of food blogs for many years. I had started my own recipe website about eight years ago, and when blogs hit the scene I switched over to that method of updating since it tended to be a little faster.

Over the years as I got busier and the kids got older, the time that I spent on my site diminished and I ended up closing it down. However, since it’s infinitely easier to read others’ contributions rather than make your own, I’ve never lost my love of reading others’ food blogs!

Finding food-related blogs and sites online has become easier with search engines becoming more advanced and site directories doing the work for you. Being able to dig deeper into specific categories is also nice, especially when you want to find sites about just vegetarian food, or desserts, or cooking for kids.

There are also some fun sites that provide more than just a listing, but rely on the images that users make when writing about food and recipes.

One of my favorites, Food Gawker, includes a small image along with a link and description to food bloggers’ submissions. I’ve had a bunch of my own images accepted, but I’ll be honest — I’ve had just as many images rejected! Other similar sites include TasteSpotting (much more difficult to get your stuff accepted there), and FoodPhotoBlog, which readily admits they’ll pretty much accept everything submitted.

What are your favorite ways of finding new and interesting food blogs and bloggers to follow?

Being that it’s my year anniversary week here at Offbeat Homes I posted props to the various blogs that have sent Offbeat the most traffic throughout the year. It’s important to note that home and architect blogs aren’t the only blogs that send Offbeat traffic though.
Offbeat is part of the b5 media network, so it’d make sense that some of my traffic perks come from various b5media blogs. It’s important to note that home and architect blogs aren’t the only blogs that send Offbeat traffic though.

Offbeat is part of the b5 media network, so it’d make sense that some of my traffic perks come from various b5media blogs. What’s always surprising to me is which b5media blogs seem to send more traffic this way. You’d think it would be the oddball blogs, or blogs related to houses, but it’s not usually.

In any case, I rounded up a list of b5media blogs that send Offbeat a lot of nice traffic – for which of course, I’d like to say THANKS! If you’re an Offbeat reader, you should absolutely check out some of these blogs…

By far, the two b5media blogs that send Offbeat the most traffic are Baking Delights (mostly due to this insanely popular cookie post) and Simply Thrifty. Thanks Marye and Deb!

Other blogs that send good traffic my way include some that you’d think, because the topics relate, and some surprises, which I’d never have guessed unless I saw my stats.
