Today is Friday and that means it’s Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.
Yesterday I unexpectedly had to spend the afternoon in the emergency department of Charles Gardenar hospital. My daughter rang from work with the terrible news that she’d fallen down the stairs. Although, she was hurt, it turned out to be nothing worse than a severe sprained ankle. It could’ve been a lot worse, but the poor girl came out with crutches and orders to rest. Pretty difficult when you’re 20, I think.

While I sat there in emergency I saw a woman I was sure I knew, but just couldn’t jolt my mind to recall exactly where. I know this happens to everyone at some point. I was baffled, but since I had to entertain my four year old for several hours I couldn’t give it too much though. Today while going into the local store I saw the same woman. She was the cleaner for the shopping centre. I hadn’t recognised her out of her uniform. I had a laugh and a quick chat with her and the problem was solved.

Has this happened to you? Sometimes the problem is not solved and you have to just scratch your head and never recall who the person was or where you knew them from. Write about that person in your journal, but be the unidentified person. Write from their perspective watching you frown and wonder. Use this as a prompt for your writer’s journal or just to see yourself from a different perspective.

I hope you enjoy this journal writing challenge. Please leave any comments in the section below.

For this journal writing challenge imagine you are a character in a book. Write a journal entry about the problems you are facing as though a novel character was living through them. How will these problems be resolved? In what way will the main character (you) be changed? What is the plot of this story? I’m sure more questions will occur to you as you write.

Have fun with this journal writing challenge. Please leave any comments in the section below.

Although today is not Friday I am writing this for the Freaky Friday journal writing challenge as I haven’t been able to turn on my mother’s computer. My brother visited tonight and has it working fine again. Phew! If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.
Since visiting the Gold Coast again I’ve had a chance to do just a little driving. The roads and landmarks have all changed so much, yet so much is still the same.
Since visiting the Gold Coast again I’ve had a chance to do just a little driving. The roads and landmarks have all changed so much, yet so much is still the same. The last time I was driving these streets was on another visit, some 17 and a half years ago. Have you have a similar experience?

Imagine you are driving the streets of your home town or the place you live now some 20 years or so in the future. Write about the changes you see. Write about the new roads and buildings. This is an excursion into your imagination, so have fun with this idea. How do you feel as you drive, or walk, these streets? Have these changes left you feeling lost? What things are the same?

The idea behind this journal writing challenge is to change perspective on your life. I hope you enjoy writing this change of view in your journal. Please share any comments in the section below.

For the last few days I haven’t been able to access my blog due to outages in b5media, so that’s why I’ve been so quiet just lately.
For the last few days I haven’t been able to access my blog due to outages in b5media, so that’s why I’ve been so quiet just lately. But it looks like things are back to normal; at least we’re all hoping so. Without having access I did think about what it might be like if suddenly there was no longer any internet. I got a few good journal entries out of that one and possibly an idea for a short story.

So, the challenge today is to imagine that suddenly there is no longer an internet. Wild, I know, but just stop and think of all the things you could no longer do if for some reason the internet did not exist. Modern life would take a very different turn. Spend some time writing in your journal about how this would change your job, your daily life and communication for you with loved ones. Or would nothing much change at all for you?

The idea of these journal writing challenges is to view your life from a different perspective. I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please feel free to share any links if you write about this on your blog.
