I mentioned to you a week or two ago that Jessica Sprague’s FREE Stories in Hand is coming up. I’ve registered for this class and today, I received the first email about the class in my inbox.

I’m so excited to start, I can’t wait!

Day 1 will be focused on the cover and tabs!

Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers: Layering Type

I’d love to be able to go full-blast on my digital scrapbooking but no time for that so I’m sticking to my traditional scrapbooking projects. Not that I get much of a chance these days, what with starting a new business and just being busy with living.

Sigh.

One of the things though I love is to learn more computer tricks to maximise on my Adobe Photoshop Elements.

This computer trick is brought to us by Jessica Sprague:

Supplies Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0; Printer: Epson R1900; Photo paper: Premium Presentation Paper (Matte), Epson; Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket (dot) and My Mind’s Eye (brown and green); Flower stickers: K&Company; Punches: EK Success (circle and corner rounder), Martha Stewart Crafts (scallop circle) and Marvy Uchida (scallop square); Chipboard photo corner: Tattered Angels; Fonts: Century Gothic, Microsoft (journaling);You Are Loved, Internet (title); Other: Wooden circles.

A large title treatment balances out the large photo on this layout, while an overlapping edge ties the two pieces together. I played with size, orientation and color in the title, and my journaling text (set in the same font and color as it appears in the strips below it) doubled as a textural background behind it. Simple to do, but with stunning effect!

Scrapbookist has a got a lovely list of websites where you can download lots of scrapbook templates for FREE!

If you want to explore some of the many free backing papers online, here are some great links to get you started.

Backing Papers for Free – one of the best resources, these are arranged according to various designs and colours, such as celtic, buttons, children’s, music, patterns, blue and green, these all stay online for one year before being updated with new designs.

Lots of Free Downloads – you’ll find lots of great free backing papers, plus matching envelopes, templates and embellishments, to download from the Cardmaking and Papercraft website. You do need to register your email address in order to download them, but it’s quick and easy.

Blue Themed Papers – there are six blue (with hints of purple in some) backing papers available to download from the Medley Blog.

Other Papers from the Medley Blog – You’ll find some floral themed papers here, romance themed papers here and various random papers here,

Free Craft Stuff – this site caters for a variety of crafting techniques, including papercrafting.
