According to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, about one in every 3,600 children born in Canada has CF. In the US, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation believes there are about 1,000 new cases of CF each year, with 30,000 children and adults in the US affected. Worldwide, that number rises to 70,000.

Sixtyfive Roses: A Sister’s Memoir by Heather Summerhayes Cariou tells the story of a family dealing with CF. At six years old, Heather promises her younger sister Pam, diagnosed with CF and given two months to live, that she’ll die with her. Yet, something very different happens in this moving story of two sisters dealing with what Pam called “Sixtyfive Roses.”

Five percent of proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis foundations in
Canada and the US.

Stop Self-Sabotage Book Contest Winner

The 23-page e-book is selling for $9.95, and two winners will have a chance to receive it for free! (Yes, this is a women’s blog, but men are very welcome to enter as well.)

Deb’s book is about moving beyond blogging, but, of course, working as a full-time blogger is a valid career choice too. However, that option isn’t available for everyone. Her e-book won’t explain how to set up a blog or get readers. It speaks to experienced bloggers who may not realize that their blogging skills can lead to other positions. Obviously, the employment rate is falling, so e-books like this that help you take a look at your skills will be quite useful.

Beyond Blogging is a blogging-related careers guide, but not one that holds your hand. Deb said in another recent post:

My book offers many suggestions for taking your blogs to the next level, and even offers a few suggestions for getting started. I think it gives the reader inspiration to move on to the next level and hope it gives out lots of ideas for avenues to pursue. It doesn’t hold your hand, however. It doesn’t give you step by step instructions for taking your career from point A to point B.

But that’s fine! I believe that part of life’s journey is sometimes figuring out the directions for yourself.

Often, the most obvious things about yourself are hard to see until a good friend points them out. That’s how I think of this e-book. Perhaps you’ve never taken the time to really evaluate all the skills required in blogging. Maybe you have no idea how those skills can help you get a job. That’s where this e-book comes in. It’s like a mini-counseling session for cheap.
