Memorial Day is just around the corner! I love a long weekend, but probably won’t be traveling for this one. Simply because we are usually entertained by the riverside arts fest that takes place right outside our windows on this particular holiday.

Green sky dreams: Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner

Boeing unveiled the 787 Dreamliner on Sunday at its assembly plant in Everett, WA. The Dreamliner is “the world’s first mostly composite commercial airplane” and expected to burn 20% less fuel than comparable aircrafts.
The “environmentally progressive” aircraft uses advanced composite design with lighter carbon-fiber materials. The wings, tail, nose and flight deck have been engineered for maximum aerodynamic streamlining. Less weight, less resistance, less fuel, less emissions. Sounds good.
And it’s quieter. Boeing claims that the Dreamliner’s engine noise footprint is 60% smaller than the competition. If so, the Dreamliner addresses the often overlooked environmental threat of noise pollution.
