Fun & Unique Garden Gifts

If you’re looking for a totally unique garden gift this year for a fellow gardener, I’d check out Uncommon Goods. They have some traditional garden goods, but also some clever items you may not have seen such as…
The Gnome-Be-Gone is one of my favorite garden structures – it’s amusing, unique and sure to be a garden eye catcher. The set comes with one gnome and two Gnome-Be-Gones.
Vibrant ceramic Shroomies are handmade and each is brilliantly colored and one-of-a-kind. These are not frost-proof though so you’ll have to use them in indoor plants during the winter.

2010 Farmer’s Almanac Gardening Calendar

The Old Farmer’s Almanac 2010 Gardening Calendars have arrived and there’s many cool options to choose from this year.

I actually got a different garden calendar this year (it’s a cool recycled one – I’ll post it later) but my second choice probably would have been The Old Farmer’s Almanac 2010 Every Day Calendar.

I like this one a little more than the basic 12 month calendar because of the fun tips offered throughout, although I wish it was printed on recycled paper. The new 2010 daily calendar has facts like, “Why do flowers fall off tomatoes? When do tornadoes occur?” Plus …read more

Before it gets too late to plan we’ll be looking at some more, starting today with a small roundup of gifts that can be used for growing plants.

Large tin cans look surprisingly professional and modern with a fresh coat of paint. Remember to drill a few drainage holes in the bottom. If you’re giving these as a gift, make it nicer by filling the can with seed …read more

Homemade Holiday Gift – Garden Tote

One inexpensive and easy homemade gift for gardeners or garden lovers is a handy homemade garden tote. You can give these to anyone who one, likes garden themes, or two actually needs to tote garden gear around.
How to make your garden totes:

Choose your tote bags – you can usually find nice sturdy totes on great deals during the holiday. Especially if you buy in bulk. Local fabric store and craft stores run great deals on plain totes as well.
Iron the bag if it’s wrinkly, so that it will lay flat – makes it easier to decorate.
Now for decorating your bag …read more

Beautiful Gardening Gifts for the Holidays

I was looking for a new watering can, one with an extra long spout to reach this plant I have hanging high, and found the most lovely Indoor Watering Can at the online store for The New York Botanical Garden, nybg Shop.

This German designed can is sleek in stainless steel and functional, with a super long curved spout that makes it easy to reach all plants. I LOVE it! Then I started browsing and man, does this shop have some cool garden gear – all of it beautiful. Such as the Flanders Carrots Tray, handmade in New York City by …read more
