Angela White over at Breastfeeding 1-2-3 has great instructions on how to sew your own baby bib. Here’s what she says:

” This fun, easy and inexpensive sewing project makes a great baby shower gift. Maybe you’d like to sew these for yourself if your baby is ready to start on solid foods. Step-by-step instructions and picture illustrations guide you through to a rewarding finished product. A few different fabric combinations give ideas for boy, girl and unisex bibs. The measurements are readily adaptable but these produce a bib with extra coverage and long bib ties for ease of use.”

Isn’t this cute? As Angela says, these would also make perfect shower gifts if you don’t have someone at your house who could use it.

Wool Sweater Pincushions

Here’s a last, last minute gift to make. This is from Bernina but I can easily see how this can be made by hand or with a regular machine.

Here’s how Bernina describes it:

Who has better ideas than Better Homes and Gardens? Over the next few days you will see some of their wonderful Christmas ideas.

Today we see an easy Christmas Stocking to sew. What a treat to see this stocking ‘hung by the chimney with care’.

This is the Yo-Yo Stocking and the pattern and instructions are free. This looks like a quilted stocking but don’t despair – it’s chenille fabric – no quilting involved!

Liz Smith, in Bebestages, writes about a very cool item that wouldn’t be hard to make as a gift for a new mom or an expectant mom.

It is a snack pack for the stroller or shopping cart. As Liz says, it’s “excellent for new little hands that can’t yet hold little snack cups or who like to throw anything they’re given.”
