I had not heard of the back story of this house before, but it’s interesting. Read the back story here. Be sure to read through the photo comments, because how the photo was done is pretty cool too.

I don’t love to post links to stories, just because, it seems sort of shady – as in lazy. However, this is a very cool story about the Maison de Verre and there are some amazing photos to go along with it. If you’ve never seen this beautiful structure, you’ll be amazed.

What’s a girl to do? I think they got me with that darn twilight shot. As noted often, I’m a sucker for twilight; everything just looks better at this time of day.
What’s a girl to do? I think they got me with that darn twilight shot. As noted often, I’m a sucker for twilight; everything just looks better at this time of day. Maybe because it’s fleeting. We don’t get a whole lot of twilight. What do you think? Speech over. Check out the house:

Not that my mind is completely changed about red, but come on, this house is fantastic.

This home is in North Shore, Massachusetts and was designed by Gleysteen Design. This design company has created many a delightful house, and a visit to their site is highly recommended – really now, they made me adore red. You can view more of this specific house easily at Sun Engineering; they designed the complex energy system for this home, and have a nice section explaining that process at their site.

I’ve seen this home around forever, but don’t think I’ve blogged it here. It’s really cool though; worth a post for sure.
Now, can you guess what it does, without reading further? Of course, if you’ve seen this you’d know, so I’m talking to the folks who’ve missed this sweet house.

Did you guess?
It rotates! Plus it’s green.
DOPE UPDATE: So, I just realized that one, I said, “Hey guess what this house does?” Then I realized that my title, “Rotating Solar Torch of A House” may have given that away (duh). Lordy. Still it’s too funny to edit. I’ll leave it all.

DOPE UPDATE: So, I just realized that one, I said, “Hey guess what this house does?” Then I realized that my title, “Rotating Solar Torch of A House” may have given that away (duh). Lordy. Still it’s too funny to edit. I’ll leave it all.

The solar-collecting array on top actually follows the sun, thus maximizing solar capture. Pretty slick. Some bloggers have noted that it’s a little extreme. I sort of like it though. I love how it looks like a torch you could hold.
