Merry Can Mean Less

Did you know that in the United States alone, there is 25% more trash during the Christmas season? Yes. That is technically between Thanksgiving and the color New Year’s Day. That may look like much to you but it is the truth.
With that in mind, what should you actually do? There are things that you can focus on and one is reducing or recycling stuff. Leah Ingram is one of those who have decided that going green is still applicable despite the holidays. She says, “I’m trying to reduce what I’m throwing out, I am recycling, I am reusing. One of the things that we did last year was to use re-usable bags to wrap the gifts.”
What can be recycle and what can you reuse? There are lots of materials going around during Christmas and if you really take a good look at them, you can actually see what else you can do with them.

The Green Gift

One of your problems is that because of the holiday rush, you just could not completely finish your shopping for gifts. And then there is also the concern of how you are going to be sending out those gifts. You surely cannot send them all right now and the recipients will be receiving them on Christmas Day, right?
Well, not exactly.
See, The Nature Conservancy is now offering people the option of giving a green gift. With this one, you can give the gift of helping the earth. You can opt to help keep the coral reefs safe. You can opt to make sure that this piece of land in this rainforest remains green and healthy. Or you can also choose to have a tree planted somewhere. Whatever it is that you choose, this will be the gift you will be giving your loved one because it will be in honor of them.
And yeah. The e-card that is sent to your recipient to let them know that they have such a green gift from you is sent to the recipient right on the day that you specify. So if you’d like them to receive it on Christmas, then on Christmas it is.

In the United States, the lighting of the Rockefeller Center’s Christmas tree is what symbolizes the start of the Yuletide season. It is a grand event that many people really do wait for each year. Some really do try hard to be there live when the lighting takes place.
Of course, that is not going to be a surprise knowing just how beautiful this Christmas tree looks like.
For this year, Rockefeller has got a tree that measures 72 feet tall and it is a Norway Spruce which had originated from Connecticut. It had been decorated with the best Christmas decorations and the list includes 30,000 LED Christmas lights. So you know what this means. This year’s Rockefeller Christmas tree is really rockin’ because it is not only literally green but is also figuratively green. Yey for the Rockefeller Center!
According to the people behind this green Christmas tree, it is going to be recycled after the season is over. It is going to be used by the Habitat for Humanity. Wow. Nice.

I’m Dreaming Of A Green Christmas

White may have been the kind of Christmas that other people dream of but I am looking forward to a green Christmas. In fact, I honestly want people to have a green Christmas. I know Mother Earth would be smiling when that happens.Only a couple of weeks to go before the big 25 and now we may all be thinking of just what gift to give to our loved ones. I was looking through the Internet for some ideas and a found a story here.
I so love the idea that this family had. In fact, I just think this would also work with mine. See, with this one, there is no need to spend to get gifts for members of the family. You give something that you already own and so that there would also be less junk in the trash. And when it comes from the heart, now that is really the best Christmas gift that you can give to somebody.
What’s your green Christmas idea?
