Dry cleaners in the U.S. are a pretty horrid bunch if you think about it from the planet’s point of view. Approximately 85% of all dry cleaners use a volatile organic compound (VOC) called perchloroethylene. The EPA notes that perchloroethylene is a toxin and besides being a terrible baddie for the earth it can also cause human health problems. perchloroethylene has been linked to an increased risk for cancer and major respiratory issues.

Not that you should cover up in recycled plastic bottles at the beach – eek! See through and not very protective from the sun, but if you’re not wearing bottles you’re not up on your green scene.
