Radiating
I find it amazing how quickly one can enter your heart and soul. I have admitted before that it took a while for us to bond with AJ because of his trauma and his aversion to attachment. Gus, on the other hand, slammed into my heart so quickly that I have not had time to adjust to it all.
He is a child that is so endearing and beautiful that one can’t help but stare at him when he is awake or asleep. He is timid with strangers, loving and cuddly with those with whom he is familiar, and simply put, …read more
Guatemala Adoption Frequently Asked Questions
The Department of State has released responses to the most frequently asked questions (and most current). For answers to questions about birth mother interviews and new regulations please visit the Department of State FAQ’s.
Positive Birth Mother Interviews
I have waited to post anything about the birth mother interviews in Guatemala because it is so hard for me to write about…so hard for me to think that Gus’s birth mother has to go back, yet again, and explain her situation to people who don’t know anything about her and her life.
What Time He was Born (and POA)
I have been notified that our Power of Attorney was officially registered in Guatemala (on the 28th…just under the gun), that they have completed blood testing (poor thing!), and I received a copy of his birth certificate just the other day (which states where he was born and what time).
And I remember, once again, that I still don’t know what time AJ was born.
Whew…that is a lot to download.
Now if I could only wrap my arms around the little man again. I think I will have to hug AJ just a tad tighter tonight.
Guatemala Adoption Woes
On Friday Guatemala’s PGN * shut down stating that they would not be accepting any new cases other than those that had been approved. According to Guatadopt.com this is VERY CONFUSING information because it was believed that ALL cases would be GRANDFATHERED in if they were submitted before December 31, thus APPROVED and processed.
What is even more confusing is that the sign on the door to PGN stated that all cases have to be registered with CENTRAL AUTHORITY, a NEW division.
About A Child Chosen
In January 2007, just after we decided to adopt our second child I decided to journal the process. I told myself it wasn’t going to be an ordinary journal…it was going to be spectacular and everyone of our friends could read it. Some of our closest friends and relatives read my personal blog, My Two Boys, or my Discussing Autism site where I blog about AJ’s health issues, developmental progress, and about special needs and education. I also now write at One Book, Two Book for b5media. That certainly comes in handy because I have my master’s degree in Young …read more
