Hot Sauce to Break Stubborn Pacifier Baby – Are you serious?

When my boys were toddlers and going through their biting spell, I did use hot sauce to break them from biting, but to break them from the pacifier? That’s a little harsh. Even for Britney Spears. Apparently she’s using this method to break Sean Preston of his habit.
My boys didn’t have an attachment to a pacifier, for some reason neither one ever wanted or needed them – but when I thought it was time for breaking the bottle, one quick trip to a farm where a mother animal had babies was all the inspiration my kids needed to toss …read more

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t – keeping stupid teens less stupid

A couple of weeks ago, I took the time to discuss cell phones, the transmission of x-rated images and the severity of such an act with my own teens.
I swear my kids don’t believe me. They believe I’m full of hot air. I do think my own two boys are fearful enough of my “going apeshit on their ass without warning” episodes that they would avoid such actions at all cost.
Since we had our discussion over the stupid girl in Ohio that sent the video of herself that’s being called “child porn” – there’s been the revelation that …read more

Creative Punishments and Lasting Impressions

It’s no big secret that I wasn’t much of a saint growing up. And while I like to joke at times, saying I was so close it scared me, I know I was a typical kid who drove my parents up the wall.
My parents remember several times of having to punish me and actually feel a little guilty for it. I, on the other hand, remember a couple of times and ironically, they don’t match what my parents remember.
I thought it would be interesting, entertaining and hopefully, insightful to see how others stack up in their childhood memories …read more

The Guerilla Parenting Mailbox – Blended Family Chaos – My Stepson is a Lazy Pig

As previously introduced here on Guerilla Parenting, our Guerilla Parenting Mailbox is underway and we are beginning to get quite a call for parental issues that readers are wanting us to help them solve.
Feel free to chime in – this parent wants some help in coming up with an answer to a nagging situation.
I am stepmother to a 15 year old male who happens to be a lazy slob. I’ve been married to his father for almost 5 years and for the most part we have a healthy relationship until I open my mouth about his kid.

The Guerilla Parenting Mail Box – Teen boys, the internet and one fat ulcer

Thanks to a reader, I’ve been inspired to create a new feature here on Guerilla Parenting formerly and also known as Supernanny Rules – we’ll call it The Guerilla Parenting Mail Box.
What will happen is readers, who don’t want to or can’t blog about their own family issues, can have an outlet to post, discuss and seek advice and support.
Sound fun? Entertaining? Reassuring? Enlightening? It should. Especially after you read the very first, inspirational story I’m about to share.
Feel free to chime in – this parent wants some help in coming up with an effective punishment.
I’ve recently discovered my …read more

Total Parental Manipulation of Selfish Brats

Sometimes parenting can be so entertaining.
Now that I’m back from the mechanic – I’ve got a few minutes to share the attack strategy I cooked up for the selfish little buggers who reside in my house.
I sent them all a text message and told them their presence was required at a family meeting to be conducted in the family room immediately.
Each walked in as if they knew the hammer was coming down. I love how my kids know me so well!
Since D insisted that his rule of not sharing his music be respected, I thought we’d let him run with …read more

My Weekend Extreme Redneck Makeover

Last week was a very busy week for this poor mom! School woes and kids style issues. It was almost more than a mom could take.
Well, I finally chipped and nagged away at him enough that we were able to load up and go on a little shopping/social experiment excursion.
What I did was take him to the redneck farm store and then to the mall. In the mall was visited Aeropostale and American Eagle Outfitters. Before entering the stores, I asked him to look around each store and find the girls he considered HOT.
You can almost see where I’m …read more
