I’ve been following Guy since he first made his appearance on The Next Food Network Star several years ago. I was rooting for him then, and I’m still rooting for him now.

I can’t wait to check out Guy’s latest Food Network show, The Guy Fieri Roadshow. The new show will combine food with rock and roll. Two of my favorite things.

Guy modeled this two hour food-a-palooza after a high energy rock concert, including traveling from city to city on two tour buses with his culinary krew. At each stop Guy will feature a locally famous chef and Guy complete with interactive cooking stations, demos, behind the scenes stories from the road and more.

The scoop from Guy:

“We’ve been test-driving this concept on a smaller scale and the adrenaline of the crowd is through the roof. Putting on a show for my fans that marries food and rock n’ roll with blow-your-mind entertainment is a dream come true.”

The Guy Fieri Roadshow begins its tour Tuesday, November 17th in Lowell, MA at Lowell Memorial Auditorium and the tour will end Thursday, December 17th at The House of Blues in Las Vegas, NV.
I think this grilled pork appetizer is definitely worth the wait. This would make a great start for a backyard barbecue, or summer dinner. Sweet and savory at the same time, yum!

Strawberry Pork Chop Fiesta

4 boneless top loin pork chops, cut 1 inch thick (about 1 3/4 pounds total)
4 tablespoons bottled roasted red bell pepper, chopped and well drained
4 tablespoons frozen artichoke hearts, chopped and thawed
8 teaspoons cream cheese
8 to 12 bottled pickled jalapeno nacho-style slices
2 large strawberries, thinly sliced
1 12-ounce package center-cut bacon, thinly sliced (16 slices)
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Honey Mustard Sauce

Honey Mustard Sauce
1/4 cup beer
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Dijon-style mustard

For honey mustard sauce, combine beer, honey and mustard in a small sauce pan. Bring to boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 2 to 4 minutes or until slightly thickened and reduced by 1/3. Stir occasionally to prevent over boiling. Makes about 1/4 cup.

If necessary, trim and discard surface fat from pork chops. Place pork chops on cutting board. Cover chops with plastic wrap. Starting from the narrow end of each pork chop, pound chops to 1/4 inch thickness using the flat side of a meat mallet. Remove plastic wrap.

Near a narrow end of each flattened pork chop, layer 1 tablespoon of roasted pepper, 1 tablespoon artichoke hearts, 2 teaspoons cream cheese, 2 or 3 slices of jalapeno, and 2 or 3 slices of strawberries. Tightly roll pork to enclose filling ingredients. Set rolls aside.

Place a large piece of plastic wrap on work surface. Lay out 4 slices of bacon by placing them 1/4 inch on top of each other in a shingled fashion. Near a short edge of the shingled bacon, place 1 pork roll. Using the plastic wrap to help lift bacon, roll bacon around pork roll. Remove plastic wrap and set bacon-wrapped pork roll aside. Repeat wrapping remaining pork rolls with remaining bacon.

Preheat gas grill to medium heat for direct grilling. Cut two 14 x 16 inch pieces of heavy foil. Place 2 pork rolls, end to end with seam sides down, on center of each piece of foil. Drizzle balsamic vinegar evenly over pork rolls. To make packets, bring up 2 opposite sides of foil; fold down to close, making 2 or 3 tight folds. Fold remaining opposite ends to close. Place foil packets, folded seam up, on grill rack. Close lid and grill for 20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 155 degrees F.

Remove foil packets from grill and remove foil from pork rolls; discard juices and foil. Return pork rolls to grill, brush with mustard sauce. Continue grilling, uncovered for 2 to 4 minutes or until bacon is crisp, turning occasionally (watch carefully, bacon drippings may cause flames).

Transfer pork rolls to carving board. Loosely cover with foil; let rest for 5 minutes. Cut into 3/4 inch thick slices; serve with remaining mustard sauce.

Makes 8 servings as an appetizer

Food Network chef Guy Fieri will help judge the contest. I’ll be back shortly with a yummy pork recipe to share from Guy.

Here’s a summary of what they’re looking for:

As grills begin firing up coast to coast, America’s pork producers are celebrating the season with the “Search for the Next Pork Personality” contest – a nationwide search for a pork lover who not only loves grilling up tasty pork, but has a “grate pork-sonality” too! From April 18 through August 31, 2009, consumers who love to “hog” the spotlight and grill can submit a short video sharing their best tip for grilling pork at TheOtherWhiteMeat.com.

Up for grabs is one of three finalist spots to compete in a tong-tossing live finale grill-off in the Big Apple. Celebrity chef Guy Fieri, who knows all about “pork-sonality,” will help judge. One griller will be named the “Next Pork Personality” and take home $5,000, a Char-Broil gas grill and grilling accessories.

What to enter:

A two minute (or less) video that features your “gratest” tip for using any cut of pork. Videos will be judged on originality, creativity, clear communication of a pork tip or message and be communicated effectively.

Now go think of your best pork grilling tip and win a trip to New York!

This Sunday morning I watched the premiere of Guy Fieri’s show, Guy’s Big Bite.
He did a fantastic job and most importantly the food looked great. So great in fact, I am went to the website and downloaded the recipe.
The menu consisted of grilled Bloody Mary Flank Steak, Grilled Romaine with Blue Cheese Bacon Vinaigrette and Parmesan Taters. Guess what we will be having next weekend?
Stay tuned next week for Guy’s Big Bite, every Sunday morning at 10:00am, only on the Food Network.
