Time is running out to score some eco-friendly Halloween treats to hand out (or to munch on yourself). Before the big day hits, here are some good places to shop for more eco-friendly Halloween treats…
Sweet Earth Organic Chocolates has super cute Halloween candy that’s yummy and healthy for the planet.
Your local co-op or the natural section of your normal grocery store – look for treats like candy, fruit leathers, organic twisted fruit, and chocolates labeled organic and Fair Trade. Also look for minimal packaging, although this is one time I’d say avoid the bulk section – parents won’t let …read more

Two healthier Halloween minded snacks for you today, the first is an icy Halloween smoothie that I found a long time ago in Fitness Magazine. The downside is that it wasn’t organic; but you can change up ANY recipe to make it organic so I did. Halloween Smoothie:
1 cup organic canned pumpkin
1 cup organic milk (you can use soy, or another milk as well, it works fine)
2 tablespoons …read more
Braces-Friendly Halloween Treats
With Halloween comes ooey gooey caramel and nutty chocolaty treat. Which is wonderful for those of us who totally throw our strict diets out the window, er, don’t have braces, but what about our teens with orthodontia business going on? No caramel apples for you (said in your best soup nazi impersonation).

Some foods can bend or break braces which (1) doesn’t make a …read more
Halloween Treats – Apples with Worms
No, these treats are not for handing out. They are for dessert and you might find that your kids actually will eat something that is not chocolate. Not that there is anything wrong with chocolate!! Anyway, the apples are cored and stuffed with lots of nuts and raisins and then baked in a sugary syrup. The finishing touch is to cut a whole in the baked apple large enough to insert the worm that will dangle out of the apple. Sounds yummy doesn’t it.
