Some of you may remember my disappointment with my order from Lisa Bearnson’s KOTY Christmas Cards. I ordered it well before Christmas last year and they arrived AFTER Christmas. I enquired heaps of times but never got a reply from CK…truly disappointing.
Anyhoo, I decided to use them this year since I didn’t get a refund for my purchase plus what am I going to do with spare Christmas cards?
They were all sent on Christmas Eve (I know, I’m so bad! haha) so all’s well that ends well

This is a birthday invitation that I made for my business partner’s wife on the occasion of her 60th birthday.
It’s simple to make. I knew her favourite colour and she gave me a photo to capture the theme ‘Lunch on the Lawn with Lou’ – I edited the photo using Picnik, typed in the details of the birthday lunch and voila!
A handmade birthday invitation

I even got my business partner to ‘help’ assembling the invites….aww, a labour of love!

Are you planning on sending handmade Thanksgiving cards this year? To get you started, here’s one card made by Tami at Hero Arts to inspire you. It’s gorgeous isn’t it?

Featuring:

Clear Design Happy Thanksgiving

Card Buttons – Neutral

Fall Mixed, Neutral Mixed & Kraft Notecards

Memories Artprint Brown Dye Ink

Other: ribbon, colored pencil, sewing machine, pop dots

Quick Instructions:

Stamp the pumpkin twice — first on a piece of okra notecard (from the Neutral Mixed Notecards) and then on a scrap of orange notecard (from the Fall Mixed Notecards.) Cut out the orange pumpkin, omitting the stem and curly vines. Adhere the orange pumpkin directly on top of the pumpkin stamp on the okra. This saves you from a lot of detailed cutting and ends up looking great! Stamp the little bird on top of the pumpkin for a fun touch.

Tip: Use a light brown colored pencil to shade the pumpkin.

Tip: Real machine stitching around the edges of the main image panel mimics the stitched look of the pumpkin image.

It’s been so long since I handmade a card let alone a full-blown invitation or horror of horrors, a scrapbook layout! Life has just gotten in the way….but my husband’s 50th birthday did allow me to spring into action!
My Husband’s motorbike mad so it’s only appropriate that I theme his birthday invitation around his first love

It took me almost 2 days out of our 4-day Easter weekend to make the invitations but they’re totally worth it. So pleased with the outcome. It won’t win any Scrapbook awards but it won my husband’s heart…awww!

Instructions on how I created my masterpiece after the jump:

1. I surfed the web for ideas (of course). When I found one, I made a sketch of its layout.

2. I measured the sizes for each element (photo, patterned paper, etc) and cut them one by one. Yes, even that Route 50 marker, I had to cut them individually. It wasn’t easy!

3. I printed the text onto the paper (cutting it to size AFTER I printed). I did a few trial and error before I printed the text on the paper that I used for my invite.

4. I started adhering the elements into the card (I used double adhesive tape). To create the 3-D effect for the ‘Route 50′ embellishment, I used those foam tapes.

Ta-da. The final product

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous card made by Jan Scholl using Penny Black sticker streak.

I was just blown away by the simplicity of the card yet it makes me want to run my hand through it to feel the texture of the card.
Lovely!
This is how Jan made the card:
I used a plain white base card with a red scrap layered. Then the top and bottom stickers are layered on plain black and applied-this was one long border sticker I cut to fit. The middle sticker is on a scrap of Bling and pop dotted. The whole card is not huge-maybe [...]
Post from: Blisstree

I used black Stickles around the outside of some of the hearts and a bit of dimensional in the middle of the center flower. Five minutes tops.

Are you like me starting to get stressed about the fact that Christmas is just around the corner…again! I am seriously wondering where I’ll find the time to make our Christmas cards this year. Thank goodness for Becky Higgin’s Christmas card kit!

Becky Higgins says

I know that so many of you want to make your Christmas cards but time seems to be a little more strained as we approach the holidays. This kit allows you to still make your cards withOUT thinking up a design, shopping for each of the pieces and parts, finding envelopes to fit the cards, and everything else that’s so so much work. Fun? Absolutely. I encourage making your cards! But I know some of you desperately want an easier creative route this year.

More FAQs about the Christmas kit after the jump!

Q: What IS the kit?

A: It includes everything you need to make Christmas cards, and everything is pre-designed. And yet … they’re still “made by you” because you simply add a piece or two (included in the kit and totally coordinated, of course). Some of the pieces are chipboard, some are clear acetate, etc. You’re getting the cards, the pieces to add to the cards, all the brads, the envelopes, the letter seals (stickers), and even some bonus chipboard gift tags … that coordinate with the cards, of course.

Q: What skill level is required for assembling the cards?

A: If you can insert a brad through a hole that’s already pre-punched for you, you’re in luck. I wanted this to be super simple. Even the kids can help out!

Q: Is it all about Christmas?

A: Yes. I do not have another version of the kit that is specific to Kwanzaa or Hanukkah.

Q: When is this kit available to buy?

A: November 1st, until they’re gone.

Q: Where can I buy the kit?

A: On Lisa B.’s site – click right here.

Q: How many cards per kit?

A: Twenty cards. 4 designs x 5 of each design = 20 cards. If you only send 20 cards you just need one kit. Or you may need to get 2 or 3 kits. Some of you are big card senders and you’ll need even more kits than that (I’m not stopping you). Get as many as you need to be sure that all of your loved ones are covered.

Q: What size are the cards?

A: The folded size of the card is 4 1/2″ x 8″. This is a unique size but no extra postage will be required (unless you add a lot of weight or bulk).

Q: What’s “personal” about the cards?

A: Inside each card you will attach 2 strips. Behind these, you will tuck your photo(s), contact information, newsletter, or whatever you want to include. I’m a big fan of somehow incorporating your family photo or SOME photo in your Christmas cards.
