Not that I’ve done much knitting in the last several years, but my mum is a serious knitter, so I did some research with her in mind. I wanted to give her a knitting journal, if I could find one. Thanks to Kathryn Ivy you can download six free templates for your very own knitting journal. Designed by Grace Schnebly, one of the creators of Kathryn Ivy, these pages will help you keep organised with all your finished and unfinished knitting projects.

If you enjoy knitting make sure you check out their website; Knitty.com, who are having a very cool contest; also the excellent resource right here on b5media.com - Hankering for Yarn, who are also having a contest.

I hope you enjoy the free downloads. Let me know if you find them useful. Please leave any comments in the section below.

Handmade Even Better…

Noreen from Hankering for Yarn wrote a comment on my Journals for Last Minute Christmas Gifts about handmade journals. I think this is an excellent idea. If you’ve got some extra time you can make a really personalised Christmas gift. Create a handmade journal that is unique and as individual as the person you plan to give it to. There are loads of excellent links & ideas in Noreen’s blog entry, but here are a couple of links on how to make your own paper:

One from Pioneer Thinking
This one even has history of making paper
Lots of photos in this one
Some great tips in this one

I have been a bit neglectful not to point out the excellent blogs right here on b5media.com that are brimming over with resources for your visual journals. Stamping Mad by Katelyn Thomas has excellent ideas for backgrounds & many other stamping related ideas. Layers Upon Layers by Cyndi Lavin, which I may have mentioned before, has unlimited resources for visual journal keepers. Artist Hideout by William Lehman should inspire you to create art. Digital Photography School will help you with any digital images you create. Don’t overlook The Mad Cropper, Junk Creation, Hankering for Yarn, Tangled Thread and even Quilting & Patchwork may have something to offer when it comes to your visual journals.

So, if you haven’t been over to check out Noreen’s Hankering for Yarn blog yet, here’s another great reason to do so. She has some really cool instructions on handmade journals bound with spoolknitting. If that doesn’t give you a truly individual journal I don’t know what will.
