Throughout the years, quilters have been interested in recipes (exchanging them, serving at quilting bees, collecting into recipe books). It’s not unusual to find an occasional recipe in a quilting newsletter or on a web site. Havasu Quilts has offered raspberry recipes recently in occasional e-newsletters.
This week, you’ll find one for “Raspberry Pretzel Squares,” which looks delicious and is very timely during raspberry season. You’ll find the recipe at: http://www.havasuquilts.com/newsletter/newsletter.html .

In addition to quiltmaking ideas and patterns, the quilters of days ago shared various tasty goodies at their get-togethers. My grandfather, in writing about his mother and her neighbors at their quilting bees, mentioned their having tea. I imagine Great Grandmother and her neighbors served more than a beverage.
In the Havasu Quilts (www.havasuquilts.com ) newsletter today, there is a recipe for Raspberry Salad Mold, a tasty dish to serve for your family on busy quilting days or to quilters who come to work at their sewing.

*Adding something personal about your quilting life, travels, and projects. This catches my interest more than simply a listing of items for sale, even when those items come with pictures. This personal blurb generally shouldn’t be too long, but …read more
Participating in Quilt Challenges

The challenge of a quilt challenge intrigues many quilters. These may involve full size quilts, lap quilts, wall hangings, or other types of fabric art. My daughter had become involved with a number of challenges within online groups she belongs to. You’ll also find challenges sponsored by quilt shops, quilt guilds, and quilt shows.
These generally involve using a specific number of fabrics and perhaps embellishments. Colors used in the challenge piece may be designated, too. A definite size usually is given for the piece. Many will have a theme to the entry.
I noticed a challenge at Havasu Quilts (www.havasuquilts.com) with …read more

Quilters from Pahrump, NV have organized a project, Quilts 4Cancer, to give Christmas quilts to children with cancer. They plan to provide 500 quilts made from fabric with a holiday/Christmas theme. If you don’t have time to make a quilt, you can donate fabric with holiday designs.
More information can be found in the current Havasu Quilts newsletter (6/27/06) at www.havasuquilts.com. Havasu Quilts is located at Lake Havasu City, AZ.
