We are only a few weeks into school and my daughter is already a bit bored with her lunch. I worked in the 3 cafeteria for 3 years and I have a pretty good idea what might work. I know what kids like and what they are most likely to throw away.

For example, a whole apple – they are extremely pitch-able and make a satisfying “thud” when they hit the bottom of the garbage can. If you slice the apple, then put it back in the shape of a whole apple, then a piece of fruit becomes fun. Send some sort of dip and there’s no way that apple is getting thrown away.

Here are a couple of dips that go great with fruit. Try a variety of fruit. Apple slices, peach slices, dried apricot slices, nectarines, or grapes are a great place to start.

Yogurt Dip

*1 cup vanilla or your favorite flavor yogurt
*1 Tablespoon honey
*Granola cereal
*Fruit slices

1 Mix honey and yogurt.
2 Pack 1/4 cup of the honey-yogurt into an individual container with a lid. (Pack a frozen cold pack to keep yogurt cold).
3 Pack an equal amount of granola into a seperate container.
4 To serve, dip fruit into yogurt, then into granola.

Chocolate Cheesecake Dip

*2 Tablespoons Nutella
*2 Tablespoons Spreadable Cream Cheese
*Fruit Slices

1 Mix cream cheese and Nutella together.
2 Pack into small container with lid. (Pack in lunch bag with a frozen cold pack)
If you have a family and you can’t seem to find time to fix a healthy meal for your family, you must go check out Busy Family Meals. Cyndi’s got a ton of great ideas that will give you a good start on getting your family together at the dinner table.

I love today’s healthy recipe, Grilled Shrimp and Lemon, for a few reasons. First, it’s a great summertime meal. Second, it’s fast and easy to make. Third, the ingredients include herbs that are readily available to everyone. One thing I dislike about most recipes is that they are too complicated or call for too many different ingredients that normal, everyday people like me don’t have on hand all the time.

I did find some pasta at the grocery store a few weeks ago that's called Smart Taste. It's white pasta, but it is loaded with fiber. One serving (of the Rotini) has 180 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 6 grams of dietary fiber. That's 3 Weight Watchers points for a 2-ounce serving size. Not too bad. Best of all, this pasta tastes great. I've started using it for spaghetti, and my kids can't tell the difference.
Post from: Blisstree

I love anything Mexican, so when I saw this recipe for Taco Pasta Salad, I was interested. If you use whole wheat pasta this recipe wouldn’t be too bad for you. There’s no way I’d ever make and eat it with regular pasta because it would use up way too many points. (I’ve tried the whole weight pasta, but I can’t stomach it.)

On that note, I did find some pasta at the grocery store a few weeks ago that’s called Smart Taste.
