When traveling abroad, your first choice of local cuisine should never be the local McDonald’s. I mean, c’mon! Live a little! But sometimes when you’re traveling on a strict budget, McDonald’s is just too appealing a convenience to decline. It’s economical, you’ll probably find an employee who speaks English, the bathrooms are usually clean (and definitely won’t be a hole in the ground), and there’s a level of familiarity that’s comforting. (Hey, we’re all about exploring local cuisine, but a McFlurry can sure soothe the homesick soul.) In addition, when you’re scrambling to catch that cross-country train, a Mickey D meal on the go just might be the answer to your belly’s prayers.
