Keri Glassman, a registered dietician on CBS News Early Show stated that more people are turning to (functional foods). These foods are fortified with natural substances that make them work better for our over-all health.
For instance calcium is naturally found in milk and milk products, but when you add orange juice you fortify them.

Along with the holiday season comes the joy of sharing the kitchen with your children or grandchildren making those wonderful Christmas cookies. This tradition may be more meaningful this year then in years past.
We are all watching our money while still trying to keep the spirit of Christmas alive. The recipes I found use sweeteners judiciously, cookies containing no hydrogenated fat, with all natural ingredients using as much whole-grain flour as possible.

Feta Chicken with Orzo- try it!

Here is a recipe for you- thanks to a fellow nurse!
Feta Chicken and Orzo
Prepare a box of Orzo- set to side to let cool
Chop up 2 carrots 1 small purple onion and 1/2 frozen box of spinach
Prepare chicken breasts- grilled or baked- cut up into pieces and set aside to cool
Mix together all veggies and 1 pack of feta cheese
For seasoning and dressing- 4 oz. Balsamic Vinegar and 6 oz. Olive Oil- 2 cloves of garlic chopped, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1/2 tsp basil, salt and pepper to taste, 1 tbsp sugar. Mix all together and mix in Orzo, veggies and …read more
