Today is Friday and that means it’s Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.

While reading and enjoying the different prompts and input on the 2008 Advent Calendar from Heather Blakey so far this week I really enjoyed the Make Your Own Alter Ego by Kerry Vincent on Day Two. This fits right into the Freaky Friday theme. Take a look to find out how you can create your own alter ego. I like the idea and will be writing this one up in my journal over the weekend. 2008 Advent Calendar Now Live

The first day of December is here. You can finally see the work Heather Blakey put into her Advent Calendar for 2008. I’m looking forward to loads of journal writing inspiration this month. I hope you take the time to join in the fun with us. Remember have you say or join in, if you like, on Heather’s Squido Lens on the topic, too.

We’ve been getting into the Christmas spirit here at home, too. Last night and this morning hubby was busy painting and decorating a large piece of board we had stashed here somewhere to create our own Advent Calendar. We used only the things we had about the house, so don’t expect anything special. The little guy thinks it’s wonderful, though. In each of the cups we’ve stashed a little toy or sweet to discover each day. I like it, even if it can’t compare with fancier ideas I’ve seen elsewhere.

Apparently last year Heather Blakey said there would not be a 2008 Advent Calendar, but looks like she wasn’t serious. Good thing for us. Read all about her gorgeous and inspiring advent calendars on the lens at Squido. The fun part is you get a journal writing prompt to use for each day the calendar and you get to go back and look any time of the year even after Christmas is well and truly over. Keep your eye on the lens or any of Heather’s many blogs to learn when the advent calendar will be available.

2007 Advent Calendar Finally Over

I hope you followed the 2007 Advent Calendar generously created and provided by Heather Blakey in the lead up to Christmas. The calendar ends with Christmas Day, but don’t hesitate to go looking over there for journal writing material. If you’ve only just begun holidays you might like to look through the 25 days worth of prompts & exercises just to see what there is. It’s too wonderful a resource to leave unnoticed. And don’t forget about the Soul Food Cafe, either; another excellent journal writing resource.

Get Ready for Advent Calendar Project

I received a little reminder from Heather Blakey just a couple of days ago. She’s the lovely lady who runs the Soul Food Cafe, which is an excellent journal writing resource you should put in your favourites, anyway. The reminder was to be ready for the Advent calendar, a project Heather generously creates each year now. Take a look at the work put into both the 2006 & 2005 advent calendars. So, you know you’re in for a treat this coming December. I’m sure you’ll find plenty to inspire your journal writing in the lead up to the Christmas season.

I’ve mentioned Heather Blakey and her Soul Food Café website before, but if you haven’t seen any of my entries you should take some time to check out this excellent journal writing resource now.

The website overflows with inspiration, writing exercises and things to do in your journal. I’m sure you’ll find something to write about. Many of the exercises are tailor made for journal writing. I’m sure you’ll make Blakey’s website a favourite and visit almost every day just like I do. Take something of what’s on offer whenever you feel the need for a little soul food.

Another Look at Soul Food Café

Soul Food AdventURE Calendar Update

Just to let you know, in case you don’t already, that Heather Blakey’s AdventURE Calendar for this year will be a little slow with the dates. Heather’s husband is very ill and, understandably, her attention needs to be on him. Although I’ve since heard he is recovering well, so look for the updates on each day, but don’t expect them to be on time.

In a way this is good for those using the calendar. Take your time and fully explore each of the journal prompts on the days as they appear. Don’t worry that they may be a little behind. I think Heather is an incredibly generous and loving person to offer these wonderful journal writing prompts and not charge anything for them.

It’s especially good for me, as I haven’t even started Day One yet.
