I have something today to keep all of you sports fans happy. It’s very simple to make and it will give you years of enjoyment. It can also be used as a decorative knickknack for any room in your house. You’ll notice that I have used lace instead of ribbon on the ends of the material. I used lace because this specific lamp is for my granddaughter and I thought it would add a nice, feminine touch.
You can decorate your lamp any way you choose. You don’t have to used sports material. You can any …read more

If you love the French Country look, you’ve got to check out Pierre Deux. This catalog has been a favorite of mine for many years. I don’t always purchase a lot from it (it’s a wee bit pricey), but it gives you great ideas to incorporate into your home.
They have lamp shades, pillows, rugs, and awesome furniture. Every once in a while they also have a sale on accessories, so things like pitchers and pewter items can be had for a steal. But you have to watch for it.

When I first saw this tutorial on making soap petals and leaves by my friend Eileen Bergen, it was winter, and I thought what a beautiful way it would be to bring a springy touch to my dreary winter bathroom. But as is often the case, I promptly forgot about it!
Just recently I found the link again, and now that it truly is spring, I’m ready to give this project a try. Eileen makes it sound very easy, so I’m hoping to end up with a large batch of gorgeous petals for my friends and family to enjoy!

Painting Clouds on the Ceiling

There are certain spaces that just beg for a little something extra on the ceiling. I’m a fan of clouds, personally, and when we moved into our house I looked for a spot where I could paint them. I found it in our tiny entryway.
The space is small and contained, so any painting I did on the ceiling wouldn’t bleed over into the other rooms. The entryway in general is a good spot for a painting of this type, because you already have a sense of the outdoors in the space.
In order to paint clouds like these, …read more
framing fabric

I saw this cool idea on Apartment Therapy for large-scale framed fabric kits. There were a couple of small issues I had – first of all, I live in a small house and don’t have any more room for biiiig pieces of art The second is that I have tons of my own fabric and don’t really need to buy anymore to display as art (although that could be a great excuse to go fabric shopping!)
I decided to try making my own framed fabric art, using small (5 X 7″), inexpensive wooden frames. I hunted through my stash …read more
