You pick up a child’s toy, book, or stray sock for the tenth time in a few hours and stare up the flight of stairs. I’m currently re-decorating our home and I’m on the hunt for that perfect bookcase not only to house our books in our little home office but to house our little knick knacks.
I found a great 5×5 bookcase at IKEA just like the one that Heather Armstrong of Dooce as pictured above. Unfortunately for me, there is no IKEA in New Zealand so it’s either I have a friend of mine buy it in Australia and ship it to New Zealand or I have something custom made.

I know. It’s anal. But there you have it. I organize my sock drawer. It started when my brother built a gorgeous wooden box that had an amazing satin finish. We peppered him with questions.
Was it for some treasured mementos? Why wasn’t there a lid? Was it a gift?

Every parent I talk to seems to have a ton of their kid’s artwork that they just don’t know what to do with anymore.  Over the years it can certainly multiply, especially if you have an industrious little artist!
