I can think of at least 100 different emails I wouldn’t want released to the public that I’ve sent or received just in the last week. When I think back to the 1990s, when I first got email, and I was long-distance dating – Dear God, I hope that guy didn’t keep those emails after he got married.

Almost all of them have included sarcasm and my edgy humor – cause my friends and family get that about me – but, the media would have a hey-day with them.

Some of them have had to do with sex toy parties and book clubs, and some have had gender and policy-issues and some have even discussed journalists. Some have been about abortion and choice. Some of have been about interpretations of the politics of our childhood with my little brother – we see things differently.

When I think back to the 1990s when I first got email and I was long-distance dating through it – Dear God I hope that guy didn’t keep those emails after he got married.

Oh what the Mommy Bloggers would do to me if they had access to my email.

Raise your hand if you want your emails made public.

I can see you all now – Me! Me! Make mine public!

Or more likely, Holy crap – maybe I should have hit delete more often, I hope it’s not too late.

I was thinking Sarah Palin had opened the doors and maybe I really might be able to be President of the United States someday if the stars aligned just right.

But, probably not if the public gets to read my email.

Sarah Palin Won’t Release Emails

When I met Sarah from Findable Blogs sitting next to me in a SEO training I said a silent prayer “Thank you God for Girl Geeks.” She showed me some really cool html code and taught me what a meta tag is and helped me find it. She also went with me to Google.com and now I know for sure, It’s NOT me screwing up my Adsense account – it’s YOU Google.

See the 3rd person from the right? That’s Mona Gable. She’s a political writer and she writes for The Huffington Post. This election she’s covered Edwards, Hillary and Obama. She’s pretty much who I wanted to be when I grew up. She also wrote an article about girls and bras that I hope to link to on Empowering Girls: So Sioux Me when it comes out. She was very warm and I enjoyed her company.

These are executives from Essence, Redbook and Bravo (with our own Lisa from BlogHer – who I L-O-V-E). And yes I did run up to the front with my card and thrust it in the Redbook Editor-in-Cheif’s hand and yes I did stop her in the hall and say, Look I’d just love to have face time with you and then proceed to tell her all about my Empowering Girls writing!

And this is Ellen Gerstein, who writes Confessions of an It Girl and is also a real live book publisher who sat right next to me in the first Speakers Training. I H-E-A-R-T Ellen. She came to my panel – she has a daughter – and I went to hers and it was amazing and wonderful.

Ariariana Huffington, founder of the the very influential — if not leftist snarkfest — Huffington Post is kind of an inspiration to me.

Her new book seems to be an uplifting resource that you may want to consider for the young entrepreneur, the young mom, the recently divorced or widowed woman on your list.

Heck, I’m getting it for myself.
