In The 'War Against Sex,' Hugh Hefner Is On Our Side

In the May issue of Playboy, Hugh Hefner has penned a full-page editorial criticizing the conservative “war against sex.” It’s the second time this month we’ve been reminded that support for reproductive rights and support for treating women as fully equal and autonomous human beings doesn’t always go hand in hand. At least 123 people experienced fever, headaches, respiratory problems, and vomiting after attending a DomainFest Global conference fundraiser held at the mansion earlier this year. Public health officials used social media to trace the outbreak to the mansion’s hot tubs, which they say were contaminated with the same bacteria that cause Legionnaire’s Disease. The take-away? Stick with fundraisers that don’t involve hot tubs. Also: Social media really can be healthy. More »
