This video comes from Hungary, and features an actual dog obedience school’s presentation group putting on a performance for the holidays!

These very well-trained (and cute!) dogs decorate a Christmas tree, complete with ornaments, glass balls, tinsel and even the presents before plopping down from exhaustion. That’s about how I feel after a day of decorating, too!

Unless your dogs are this well-trained, it’s probably best not to let them chomp down on the glass balls, though — ouch! Check out some other holiday pet safety tips.

A Doggy Christmas Surprise

In the video, Pablo baits the very patient Ramsey with the toy, all the while doing what we call The Very Vicious Growl. Ramsey very carefully inches closer and closer to the toy while Pablo keeps a close eye on the progress, leading to louder growls and bigger head jerks.

When Ramsey pretends to lose interest, Pablo shoves the toy back into his face before yanking it back again.

Evil Chihuahua

“Hot Spot” was created to celebrate the release of Simon’s book, titled, of course, “Simon’s Cat.” The 40-second video shows the lengths that his feline friend will go to to get the warm spot under the desk lamp. I wonder who rang the doorbell?

Crafty Giggles for the Weekend

Oh look, it’s a cute little pin that looks like a child sewed it:

Actually, I’ve taught 5 year olds to sew who had neater stitches than that…

And then I took a look at the price.

These brooches retail for $188.00, US funds.

That’s right, pennies worth of fabric and sloppy stitching will run you the cost of a big grocery shop or a good pair of shoes.

I think I’m in the wrong business…

I Knew It: Conspirators

This weekend, Paul and I went out with an older couple we had not seen in a while. They’re probably in their mid-forties and have been married four times as long as Paul and I.

After the obligatory small talk to ease into the evening, the discussion got a little awkward when our female dinner companion (let’s call her “Anne”) kept referring to her husband’s (”Jim’s”) problems in the bedroom.

More wine please. Thank you.

No matter how uncomfortable Jim was, or the number of times Paul and I tried to steer the conversation in another direction. Anne kept finding ways to work in jokes at Jim’s expense back into the dialogue. It was painful to watch – I can’t even imagine how Jim was feeling.

How do you get to the point in your relationship where you are so blind to your spouse’s feelings that you can’t see how much your words are hurting and embarrassing him? While I am sure there is more to it than what we saw at the dinner table, it was just baffling to me – especially given how considerate and kind Paul and I try to be with one another. I can be an intensely private person (heh, who blogs!), especially when it comes to my marriage. If we’re arguing, I don’t want to talk to people about it. And if we are in the middle of an argument and have to be somewhere, I will intuitively put on a happy face and shelf the conversation for later.

Humor can be so good for a marriage when it’s in the right context. But even more harmful than directly hurtful words are the ones that are somehow meant to be funny, but wind up stabbing your partner instead.

My sister’s little boy is the fourth in his family with the same name (IV) and we thought he understood what that meant. However, today he told his grandma that since he was 5 now, when we use his full name, we should say the fifth instead of the fourth and next year, when he is 6, we should say the sixth.

Hehe, I thought this was just adorable and can totally get his way of thinking. My own brother is a IV and I always wondered about that when I was little. Course back then I didn’t understand there were others before my brother with the same name. Remember I thought my dad was dad and grandpa was Papa. I had no clue they were “George.” What’s your kid said lately?
