“And if you can’t be…with the one you love…..Love the One You’re With!”
Thanks for humoring me, there.
A few of us are actually lucky enough to be with the ones we love, and yet we still could use the reminder to love the ones we’re with.
What is she babbling on about now?
Shall we go with some more lyrics (this time more from my generation, less from my parents’) to further lead into my point? Good answer.

A few of us are actually lucky enough to be with the ones we love, and yet we still could use the reminder to love the ones we’re with.

What is she babbling on about now?

Shall we go with some more lyrics (this time more from my generation, less from my parents’) to further lead into my point? Good answer.

“Saying, ‘I love you’ is not the words I want to hear from you. It’s not that I want you not to say it but if you only knew how easy it would be to show me how you feel. More than words is all you had to do to make it real. Then you wouldn’t have to say that you loved me, cause I’d already know.”

Basically, we can become very comfortable in our ways, in our relationships, and in the routine of saying, “I love you” as we hang up the phone, walk out the door, or shut off the light. And, not that there’s anything wrong with saying “I love you” (dang, I’m starting to sound like the song!), but how often are we as eager to show our love down the road in our marriages as we are early in our relationships?

For me, one day, showing my love took the form of making the bed on a daily basis. I am not naturally a making-the-bed type of girl. (You’re just going to crawl back in and mess it up again. What’s the point?) And being that I’ve always been the last one up, for most of our first 10 years the bed didn’t get made until right before we were about to go to sleep, because Cory just couldn’t get into an unmade bed.

So, for this past year, I have been consistently making the bed. No, I don’t expect an award or anything, just wanted to point out that it doesn’t always take a monumental task or a grand gesture of affection to remind someone that they’re loved. And, really, I’m still amazed at how much he actually appreciates it that I do make it. Really. He still mentions it and thanks me for it. And, other than for the joy it brings him, I could still care less whether or not it’s made.

Sometimes it’s something just as simple as making the bed.

What’s one thing that you can do to show your love to your spouse?

Now, shall we continue in our sing along?
