Non Invasive Way To Test Blood Sugars On Horizon

I know that I have written about something similar to this in the past, but here is new research that offers a non invasive way to analyze blood sugars amongst type 1 diabetics.
By using a chemical analysis method developed for air-pollution testing, UC Irvine chemists and pediatricians have found that children with type-1 diabetes exhale significantly higher concentrations of methyl nitrates when they are hyperglycemic.
The methyl nitrate exhaled concentrations were found to be at least 10 times higher in diabetic children experiencing hyperglycemia than when they are not. Wow! This is very exciting news indeed for possible non …read more

Update On My Blood Sugars, Up And Down…

Just a little update. The other day I wrote that my blood sugar was very high. Well, it stayed like that through Thursday. It was between 245 and 500. I felt fuzzy but was surprised at how quickly I adapted to the high blood sugar

To Each Diabetics Own…

While at work yesterday I was reminded of just how different diabetes is for each patient. I work on a cardiac floor so at least 75% of my patients are diabetic, or are in the process of being newly diagnosed, based on my math over the last 8 years.
In one room I had a patient whose blood sugars were running in the mid 200’s. Isn’t that high you ask? Yes! But what you have to understand is for this particular patient, 550 was high. Yup, I said 550.
