Stuart Slann, father of one, has since been divorced by his wife Louise, 34, after she found out about the intended affair.
 
Stuart responded by saying, “There’s no doubt I’ve been done good and proper by the lads from Liverpool… It was cruel, but I’ll hold my hands up and say they really wound me up.”
 

All this over football?  The broken ankle and rib were not enough?  Something is wrong with all of these men, in my opinion.
 
(And I still think Facebook is too darn cumbersome to use.)

Another Facebook Divorce – Football Fans Fake A Fling

For the second time – last year was the inaugral event – German train operator Deutsche Bahn has offered the free event. The Flirt Express took place in 10 different German cities. Singles that ranged in age from their late teens to late middle-age.

Standing in nervous circles, clutching plastic cups and looking potential partners up and down, the party-goers listen as the Deutsche Bahn moderator runs through the evening’s rules.

For Cupid’s arrow to strike on the Flirt-Express, it has to be love at first sight. Each encounter is brief: three minutes to chat and size each other up. Women sit in the same seat for the entire trip and the men change places.

I like this idea. I spent a lot of time on the train when I was a kid, traveling back and forth between my mother’s home and my father’s home. There’s something about being inside the train, the world flying by outside, it’s a unique feeling.

Love Train

A man in England used Facebook to announce his divorce. His wife, she had no idea, until a friend contacted her. 

But the message Emma Brady’s husband posted on Facebook could not have been more devastating.

It read: ‘Neil Brady has ended his marriage to Emma Brady.’

Mrs Brady, a 35-year-old conference organiser, claims she had no idea he even wanted a divorce, and only found out when a friend, who read the post on the social networking website, rang to console her.

Later, Mrs. Brady went home where she did not mention reading about the divorce announcement and her husband acted as if everything was normal.  Until Christmas time that is, when he assaulted her because he suspected she was seeing another man.  Now he’s living with his mom. 

Yeesh, what a mess.  I wonder if he kept his Facebook friends well informed.

Man Uses Facebook To Announce Divorce

Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors, speaking in low voices, asked the judge for a “quick ruling” that would let them return to Britain. But judge Hamad Abdul Jawad disregarded the request and scheduled another hearing for Sept. 9 to hear testimony from the policeman who arrested the couple.

Palmer, 36, and Acors, 34, were arrested in the early hours July 5 on a Dubai beach after they had been at a hotel party. They were later charged with having sex outside of marriage, public indecency and public drunkenness.

Okay, this has GOT to be embarrassing! Can you imagine, being on vacation with your honey and deciding to get a little frisky in “public” and then being arrested for premarital sex? Wow.

Let this poor couple’s misfortune be a lesson to you: While it might be a “spicy” addition to your sex life, public sex and the thrill of possibly getting caught, simply isn’t quite as exciting as it sounds! Of course, it’s pretty strict in Dubai, and in other countries I’m sure, as opposed to the US or England or where have you. Public display of affection, such as touching, kissing or hugging, is illegal in Dubai and couples – particularly if not married – can be detained by police for indecency.

I’m not an anti-Republican Dem – I’ll listen to your side of the argument, I don’t claim to have all the answers.  Anybody who does is delusional, in my opinion.  My boyfriend is a Republican, but he’s also a supporter of Barack Obama. He loves to talk politics and sometimes it gets heated between us.  There are some issues that I refuse to discuss with him any longer. He appears to believe that the volume of his voice alone is enough to drive his point into my head. He’s mistaken.

Joseph Biden has been named Obama’s pick as a VP running mate.  I’m a Hilary Clinton supporter, so I was hoping to hear something different, but Joe Biden – he could be a strong choice.  My sister-in-law, she was very disappointed that Hilary Clinton is not the Democratic Presidential candidate, so when I read the news about Biden this morning, I decided to do some research and find some information that would ease her mind. 

A few items stood out in terms of Biden’s support of women’s issues. One is that his wife, Jill Biden, is the president of the Biden Breast Health Initiative.  The initiative is focused on the health of women in Delaware, but as Nancy Churnin, of the FITNESS Blog | The Dallas Morning News explains, “This looks like something that could roll out nationally, if the ticket takes it all the way.”

Additionally, according to Joe Biden on the Issues these are some issues that Biden supports:

On the negative side, to me, is his stance on choice and abortion. I’ve just begun my research into Joe Biden and I welcome any input readers would like to share.

Joseph Biden Is Barack Obama’s Choice For Vice President

Infidelity has been on my mind lately. No, I’m not contemplating stepping out on my boyfriend, but with the news that John Edwards has admitted to an affair and the renewed interest in John McCain’s past infidelities, cheating does seem to be a topic of public interest.

Theories on cheating (who does it? the percentage of people of do it is? do only men do it?) abound, but the answers to these questions differ, depending upon whom you talk to. Affairs may happen for many reasons, is it usually due to some sort of void that needs to be filled, either within the cheater or within a relationship?

According to Shirley P. Glass, Ph.D, in her book, Not “Just Friends”: Rebuilding Trust and Recovering Your Sanity After Infidelity, the new “danger zone” for committed relationships is a combination of work, friends, and the internet. “As these opportunities for intimate relationships increase, the boundary between platonic and romantic feelings blurs and becomes easier to cross.” According to the statistics Glass has amassed in her clinical practice, 50% of female and 62% of male cheaters she has counseled began their affairs through contacts at work. Glass asserts that affairs are not brought about in large part by unloving spouses or a dismal sex life, but rather the participants develop a deep emotional attachment and they lose track of boundaries.

Boundaries, we learn about boundaries from the time we are children. Are cheaters lazy, no longer vigilant about maintaining the boundaries or are they simply selfish and no longer feel that it’s important to maintain the boundaries?

I wasn’t present at the time that Edwards entered into his affair, but from what I’ve read, the woman involved was someone who worked with him on his campaign. And she pointed a camera at him, presenting his image back to him in as complimentary a light as possible (isn’t that what those ads are about?). That had to be an ego booster. I wonder if they had one of these “new” affairs. Did it start because of a shared passion for the process of selling John Edwards to the voting public? (Hey, I bought it, he was my second choice behind Hilary). Or because of a shared sense of values and an agreement on the issues?

This story, it saddens me, but it also interests me because I worry about infidelity. My boyfriend lives 6 hours away – I see him one weekend a month. I want to make my relationship as infidelity-proof as possible. I’m going to keep looking into this subject. I want an answer to that boundary question.

Not Just Friends – Was John Edwards Involved In the “New” Trend of Cheating?

Wow. I bet a lot of the day was spent waiting in line.

We’ve got a touch of Olympic fever, here at my house. We’ve stayed up late every night so far, but our viewing habits will have to change shortly as we are back to school in 2 more days. That includes me, as I’m an aide at our local elementary school.

Do you know of any Olympic athlete couples? I’ve been doing some research and haven’t heard of any for the 2008 Olympics games. If you know of any, please share in the comments. Thanks.

Update – Big Day For Weddings In China

He claims to have admitted the affair to his wife some time ago. Elizabeth Edwards gave a statement to the Associated Press, wherein she briefly describes that recovering from the affair has been “a long and painful process.” She wants privacy while her family heals. I respect her need for privacy, her attempt to protect her family and her marriage.

I’m not going to judge his wife. I have a lot of respect for her and I can’t imagine how painful it must be to deal with a betrayal of this magnitude in such a public way. I don’t have the same respect for John Edwards. Cheating sucks and lying in the face of proof (witnesses to meetings with his former mistress Rielle Hunter ) is incredibly arrogant and completely ruins his credibility. He admits to making a mistake, says that basically the attention he was getting made him feel invulnerable to rules the rest of us are bound to, but his previous denials and the manner in which he presented them, calling the stories about his affair “tabloid trash,” lead me to believe he’s more defensive than actually sorry.

In addition, it is my opinion that he had no business continuing in the 2008 presidential race as a possible vice presidential candidate. His poor choices could have cost the Democrats the race.

John Edwards Admits To Affair

Couples married on Friday will be taking part in a promotional event, wherein they will sign a billboard that states, “A century of the Olympics; a century-long dream; a century-long prayer for happiness; a century of perfect marriage.”

Okay, I get the dream and the prayer, but where does the “a century of perfect marriage,” fit in with a country that hold a 39% divorce rate?
