Batik Fabrics Popular for Quilters

Batik fabrics have particular appeal to quilters and fabric artists.  My daughter seeks them out in stores and even dyes some of her own.
These unique fabrics have been around for about 2000 years and generally are made in the Far East.  Indonesia is particularly noted for its hand dyed batiks, with each bolt of fabric slightly different from another.
Quilters and fabric artists who like to experiment with new styles and patterns are especially fond of batiks.  Many, like my daughter, enjoy creating their own.

Beyond the US on Memorial Day 2006

Not to diminish the memory of those who died for the US, especially today, Memorial Day — please click on the link to learn more about the history of this occasion…. but I’d like to ask everyone, if you could, to take a bit of time out from celebrating/commemorating/mowing the lawn/whatever you’re doing this day, and to pray for and support the quake victims in Indonesia. The death toll has passed the 5,100 mark. There are 200,000 homeless and they are scavenging for food.
