Formula storage is one of the most tricky things about feeding a baby so I recommend purchasing a formula travel case and packing extra, empty bottles.
To properly store formula:

Feed your baby prepared formula immediately.
Immediately refrigerate prepared formula up to 24 hours.
Discard any extra formula after one hour because bacteria can grow VERY quickly.

If you are traveling, use the formula dispenser.

NEVER heat a bottle in the microwave. It will create hot spots inside the bottle and can ruin the bottle itself.

Dr. Ikechukwu U. Ogbuanu from the University of South Carolina in Columbia recently found that children who were breastfed for 4 months or longer had larger lung capacities by the time they were 10 years old than children who were not.
While the children’s speedier exhalations could have been related to the beneficial components of breast milk, “the lung capacity cannot be really explained by the immune factors in the breast milk,” Ogbuanu told Reuters Health.
Most likely though, is that it is more difficult to drink from a breast than a bottle.

The revised safe haven law will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Saturday December 1. The new law states that parents can only drop off children who are 30 days or younger.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman says the revised law protects only newborn babies like the law was originally supposed to.
Although lawmakers approved the revision they do know they have a bigger problem with mental health care and human services.

Do you ever think that because your baby doesn’t have teeth yet, we shouldn’t think about dentists and tooth hygiene?
I confess that I do.
Until my children’s dentists told me I should be more diligent about keeping my baby’s mouth clean. Our dentist reminded me that dental care starts very early in the child’s life because of several reasons.
I confess that I do.

Until my children’s dentists told me I should be more diligent about keeping my baby’s mouth clean. Our dentist reminded me that dental care starts very early in the child’s life because of several reasons. Babies don’t have bacteria when they are born, but bacteria is easily passed to their mouth. Bacteria can grow in the baby’s mouth and gums which can cause cavities even while teeth are just coming out. Tooth decay early in life is a predictor of tooth decay later.

So what are the steps that parents can do to prevent tooth decay in their infant’s mouth?

Keep parent’s mouth healthy. Keeping our mouth healthy leaves fewer germs to pass to the baby.

Have baby visit the dentist before age one or within six months of the first teeth appearing.

After eating, clean baby’s mouth and gum area with washcloth. Twice a day, clean baby’s teeth with infant teeth cleaner.

Don’t let baby fall asleep on the bottle, and rinse baby’s mouth after eating or drinking anything sweet (such as milk and juice). Tooth decay happens when sugar sticks in the baby’s gums or teeth.

Don’t share spoons, pacifiers or cups between children, and between parent and child.

In addition, ask about adding fluoride to your child’s diet (such as supplement), but do not use adult or children’s toothpaste until the child knows how to spit.
