Galvus- A New Oral Medication For Type 2 Diabetics Is Receiving Warm Reviews

A new oral medicine that is indicated for type 2 diabetics has gained positive reviews. Galvis is to be used in conjunction with the most common diabetic medications.
Novartis has received a positive opinion recommending European Union approval of Galvus® (vildagliptin) as a new once-daily oral medication for type 2 diabetes, a disease affecting an estimated 28 million patients in Europe
This approval came the same day that the CHMP recommended approval for two other Novartis medicines, Aclasta® (zoledronic acid 5 mg) for postmenopausal osteoporosis and Exelon® (rivastigmine transdermal patch) for Alzheimer’s disease. It was a good day for the …read more

Diabetes Has Become A Global Epidemic

The International Diabetes Federation accomplished their main objective when the general assembly of the United Nations passed a resolution recognizing the worldwide diabetes epidemic. Diabetes affects 246 million people globally. That number is expected to increase by at least 50% in the next 15 years.

Federal Approval For New Type 2 Diabetic Medication Janumet

Type 2 diabetics have something to celebrate. There is a 2 in 1 pill that was given federal approval this week. It is called Janumet. The medication is a combination of metformin and Januvia, 2 pills that are being taken separately by diabetics to help control their blood sugar.
Merck hopes the combination version will make it easier for those diabetics to control their blood sugar levels.
This comes only 5 months after the drug Januvia was approved by the federal drug administration. Januvia is the first of its type on the market.
