I’m a big Food Network fan. One of my favorite shows this season was The Next Food Network Star. Jeffrey Saad was a favorite from the first episode. I appreciated both his up-beat personality and his cooking expertise.
Jeffrey ended up being first runner-up, losing to Mellisa d’Arabian.  Bob Tuschman, a Food Network big-wig and one of the judges on The Next Food Network Star, announced via his blog that the network has developed some web-only versions of Jeffrey’s show, the Spice Smuggler. Tonight was the finale of The Next Food Network Star, they started with 10 finalists in early June, and came down to the final two tonight. It was fun to see the two finalists, Jeffrey and Melissa, go home, and to meet their family. I have to say, I think it was very close between these two. In the early weeks I wasn’t sure Melissa would make it very long on the show, but she seemed to grow each week and learn from what the judges told her.

This week is the last episode of The Next Food Network star, it’s down to Jeffrey Saad a restauranteur/ food consultant, and Melissa D’Arabian a stay at home mom for the final two after Debbie Lee was eliminated on last weeks show.
I think it’s a close competition between the final two. Jeffrey has the experience, but Melissa has the personality and the spunk. I’m excited to see if the winner has what it takes to be the star of their own show.
