HeadlineIt! Coming Online July 15

The HeadlineIt! originally featured on the ABC show “American Inventor” is almost ready for sale. It’s taken a little longer than anticipated; earlier projections estimated a winter 2007 release. Nevertheless, the online store is taking pre-orders now. Negotiations to bring the product to local brick-and-mortar retailers are still in the works.

You remember Jodi, right? The American Inventor finalist whose HeadlineIt! is due to hit the shelves this year?
Well, she recently updated me what’s been going on in her neck of the woods, and I thought I’d share:

Not only is the product hitting the shelves, but Jodi’s got a book coming out, too! “Bald Is Beautiful: My Journey To Becoming” is due out sometime soon from Nightengale Press. I couldn’t find it on Amazon yet, but here’s a peak at the possible cover for …read more

GMToday.com has an article up on our Official Baldiness.com Aspiring Inventor.
You may remember Jodi Pliszka from the notorious moment in which she pulled her wig off on the new ABC show “American Inventor.” How you should remember Jodi Pliszka is the way she’s taken a proverbial bushel full of life’s lemons and made one fantastic batch of lemonade.

Jodi Pliszka – Guest Post

To conclude our interview, I offered Jodi a post of her own, free reign to say whatever she wanted about whatever she wanted. Well, Jodi lost her job during the American Inventor competition. But as you’d expect from someone with her enthusiasm and optimism, she sees this as an opportunity to get a public speaking career off the ground.
As a Clinical Therapist, Inventor, Award winning Author, and Bald Woman for the past twenty years, Jodi Pliszka LIVES her motivational, inspirational topics.
Jodi beat out 10,000 other inventors on ABC’S AMERICAN INVENTOR with her ability to speak passionately and intelligently. After …read more

Jodi: I have the strongest relationship with my parents and of course, my “mini-me” daughter, Jessica who is 10 going on 15. She is wonderfully supportive of me. In a recent interview on TV she told the reporter that her mom is brilliant!

Interview with Jodi Pliszka Part 1 – Baldness

To honor Mother’s Day, I wanted to do something special here at Baldiness.com. I was delighted when Jodi Pliszka, mother, author and finalist on American Inventor, agreed to an interview. The interview will be running each afternoon over the next several days. It will conclude with a guest post from Jodi on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14th.
The interview was conducted via email, and we began with the obvious subject: Baldness.
Baldiness.com: Could you briefly recap your alopecia? When did you start losing your hair? When did you become “bald?” What, if any, counter-measures did you take?
Jodi: My hair loss …read more

Jodi Doesn’t Advance to American Inventor Finale

After making the Final 12, Jodi is headed home.
Peter, her AI judge, said she is the most inspirational person he’s ever met. Her test groups – one women who lost their hair during cancer treatment; the other a group of firemen – both liked the product. In the end, though, I think it was cost and mass market appeal that did her in.

American Inventor – Jodi’s Chance to Shine

OK, I couldn’t help the bald joke.
Anyway, we find out if Jodi makes the Finale tomorrow. She is in the first of two episodes airing back to back tonight.
Peter Jones’ group of inventors includes:
Jodi Pliszka, 39, a healthcare case manager, a wife and mother of a nine-year old daughter from Muskego, WI. Jodi suffers from Alopecia, a medical condition that caused her to lose all of her hair. Her invention is the Headliner, a lightweight disposable liner that is worn underneath wigs, hats or helmets, providing comfort and protection from perspiration and oils.
