For me it’s a given that each of us needs a creative outlet of some kind. I don’t care if you create craft, art, paint, draw, write, doodle, whatever. I believe the need for creativity is deep inside every one of us and we must have an outlet to express that creativity or we suffer. But why do you need creativity?
For me it’s a given that each of us needs a creative outlet of some kind. I don’t care if you create craft, art, paint, draw, write, doodle, whatever. I believe the need for creativity is deep inside every one of us and we must have an outlet to express that creativity or we suffer. But why do you need creativity? What drives you to express yourself through art or writing? Think deeply about this journal writing prompt. Does your family understand this need? Do they honour this need by giving you space, time and supplies? Is there a battle on in your place to have the freedom to create? Is this real or self-imposed? How can you allow yourself to spend more time expressing your creativity?

You might like to express your response to this in a different way than usual. If you always pick up your pen to write a response to a journal writing prompt, today use some visual techniques to express why you need creativity. Likewise if you normally visually create responses, write about it instead. Access a different part of your brain or creative expression and learn something new about yourself.

I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please leave any comments in the section below.

Do you have a favourite day of the week? I used to just love Mondays, that’s when the big kids went to school and hubby worked. I could just get on with the new week and be all organised to do whatever projects I had happening. Now, I’m not so sure what day is my favourite. I suppose I quite like pay day, well, that’s cheating. I do like Wednesdays, though. It’s the middle of the week, the hump day, as it’s known. I could just get on with the new week and be all organised to do whatever projects I had happening. Now, I’m not so sure what day is my favourite. I suppose I quite like pay day, well, that’s cheating. I do like Wednesdays, though. It’s the middle of the week, the hump day, as it’s known. On the pay day Wednesday, today, I like to take the little guy with me and eat breakie out. I get to write in my journal and relax while he plays. By the next week I’ve usually got not much on and can loll about the house a bit in the morning. So, yeah, Wednesday is now my favourite day of the week.

So, what you’re favourite day of the week? I hope you enjoy this journal writing prompt. Please leave any comments or links to blogs in the section below.

Once I’d been keeping a journal for a few months I found a lot of my entries were rather shallow. I wrote about the weather, the things I did and other somewhat boring entries. Although, there is nothing wrong with writing these things. Tracking the weather is something I personally gain a lot from. It can be satisfying to list what you actually accomplish in a day. The act of writing in your journal alone is setting up the habit of sitting and writing something.

But rereading such entries can be terribly boring and repetitive. So, what’s the answer? How do you break out of writing only these surface observations of your life?

Make your entries rich in detail, use timed writing, focus your senses, mine your memory and use lots of journal writing prompts.

Those are just some of my suggestions for writing meaningful journal entries. Please add more in the comments section if you feel like sharing.
