Pens Galore!

Ok, maybe galore is a bit of an exaggeration. I did get a lot of pens for Christmas this year, so I feel like I’ve got more than I can use, although I know that’s never true with pens. But how do you like what the hot sun did to the pen in my daughter’s handbag the other day? All she did was leave the pen in her bag inside her car, sit outside to eat lunch with a bunch of friends and later that night dug around to find the pen to found this twisted piece of plastic instead.

Happy Christmas 2008

I’ve just popped in to say a very happy Christmas to all my regular readers and anyone else who happens to stumble by today. Here’s a photo of the lovely gifts I received from family this morning; two journals, a pack of five notebooks, three pens & some coffee. There’s also a bead scoop in there. At least they’re really starting to get what it is I like. What about you? What journal writing related gifts did you receive this year? Please share with links to your blog with photos if possible.

Freaky Friday #140

Today is Friday and that means it’s Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.

I got this idea from The Comfort Queen Jennifer Louden today. Her newsletter asked the question; “How Can I Trust Myself Enough to Choose the Path of Self-Kindness?” The idea got me thinking, as the question was intended to, and I figured it would be good to write a journal entry as if you did completely trust yourself, enough to be kind to yourself, even if it was just for one day. Write about what you would do if you did fully trust yourself. How would your life be different? What decisions would you make if you did treat yourself with kindness? How differently would others treat you? Spend time writing in your journal as if this was your reality.

Freaky Friday #140

Change Your Writing Tools

I was pleased to read on Holly Lisle’s blog yesterday that she found a quiet corner in a cafe and began a piece of fiction by writing longhand in a notebook. The experience left her feeling excited about writing again. Sometimes just something as simple as changing the tool you write with can alter your perspective enough to make the experience feel completely different. This freshens up your outlook and spurs creativity.

Try doing something just a bit different today. Use a different writing implement, write on different paper or in a different journal, use a new colour, or sit in a different place. Just write somewhere, somehow, with something and get your journal entry or story down.

Cute Keyring Notebooks

While out shopping this morning with my daughter and little boy we came across some gorgeous journals & notebooks. At the time I didn’t stop and look at who made them. I did, however, get some information from the supplier. You can view some of their range here, but I totally fell in love with their little key ring notebooks. These feature wooden shaped covers & thick quality paper. These are very handy, so lovely to look at and affordable. A perfect idea for someone as obsessed with journal & notebook as the readers of this blog.

Okay, I was able to find Michael Negrin, who creates this beautiful notebooks. The website was slow to load for me. Perhaps you will have better luck so you can see those little key ring notebooks for yourself.

Do You Use Journal Writing Software?

Heather asked a good question on Saturday’s entry.

“I’m terrible about getting myself to journal regularly, so I can’t help wondering if having a fun tool to do it with would help. Or would it just be another bit of wasted money?”

Of course, Heather was referring to the journal writing software Steve Pavlina has advertised on his website. I don’t know if you noticed, but he offers a 45 day free trial of the software. Life Journal also offer a free trial to download.

There are several others you can try, but personally I wouldn’t go further than Life Journal. I like their set up. But I suppose it depends on what you want out of journal writing software.

Do you use journal writing software? Is it a waste of money? Tell us which ones you use and if they a have free download for us to try first? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
