I came across this great article from The Vancouver Sun. Writer, Randy Shore has two sons. His oldest son they call the “Garburator”…never turns is head from food and is willing to try anything. Dylan, the youngest is “The Fussy Eater”. Fortunately, Dylan loves watching Iron Chef America and even the original dubbed Japanese food show. It probably is a guy thing. That thirst for competition. I fell upon an article discussing what has become one of the biggest trends at the start of this century…cooking with your kids. Who would have thought that actually spending time with your children and teaching life skills would become a marketer’s dream, but kids in the kitchen is the “it” thing of this decade. Everyone either has a kids cookbook or is in the process of creating their own. Rachael Ray has kid friendly kitchen tools, Kitchen Playdates are becoming all the rage and with increase interest in websites, blogging and on-line videos sites like Spatulatta have found their niche.

Kids Cook: Sweet Sparklers for Your 4th of July

I have been finding projects for my boys to do in the kitchen, so Nana bought us a Look’n’Cook recipe book. This is actually a book set-up for teachers of pre-school and Kindergarten, but it has some great, easy projects for the little ones in your house. There are a bunch of different recipes set-up for a variety of holidays and times of the year.
Tomorrow, the 4th of July, I am getting my two little chefs in the kitchen to make some Sweet Sparklers. This is easy, fun and sounds tasty:
