Greenpeace has been on the defensive with Kimberly-Clark for a good long while now; showcasing their dislike of Kimberly-Clark’s tree use with their “Kleercut” campaign. However, in big news today, Kimberly-Clark has revised their standards, set new greener goals, and Greenpeace has called off the campaign.
Greenpeace, worked with Kimberly-Clark on its revised standards, which include obtaining 100 percent of the company’s wood fiber for tissue products, including the Kleenex brand, from environmentally responsible sources. The revised standards will help protect Endangered Forests and increase the use of both Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified fiber and recycled fiber.

Greenpeace’s Kleenex Free Schools Project

Greenpeace has an idea about how to make Kimberly-Clark listen up about using products that come from unsustainable sources, and they want your help. It’s called the Kleenex Free School Project and the goal is to tell the world’s biggest tissue manufacturer, loud and clear from the many little noses that need tissues, to use sustainable-sourced paper.

Every time you blow your nose with Kleenex tissue, you’re blowing away an ancient forest. And every time you buy Scott or Cottonelle at the store, you’re flushing old growth trees down the toilet.
