Present-day pop’s number one star Lady Gaga has been in the news throughout 2012 for her honesty regarding mental issues, eating disorders and body image. The tabloids have body snarked her and criticized her weight gain (which was actually not all that much, anyway, but that’s beside the fact), garnering her to respond in a public, positive manner, earning countless fans’ admiration, as well as our own. Now, it has just been announced that her Born This Way tour will be setting the stage (so to speak) for even more discussion regarding mental health! More

In recent weeks, Katie Couric, Lady Gaga, Stacy London and now, Nicole Scherzinger have all spoken out about their battles with eating disorders. Gaga confessed to suffering from anorexia and bulimia, Katie and Nicole were both bulimic, and fashion guru London struggled with both anorexia and compulsive eating. It’s amazing that these women are sharing their stories, but eating disorders aren’t a new phenomenon; especially in the entertainment industry. So I can’t help but wonder: Why? And why now? More

Adele, our favorite outspoken, body-confident songstress, has made some comments regarding Lady Gaga‘s recent body brouhaha. Some media outlets are reporting that the new statement “slams” pop stars who dress in skimpy outfits. I’m surprised Adele’s comments are so harsh, especially since she’s no stranger to body criticism. More

Lady Gaga just tweeted a photo of herself in her underwear, captioned “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15,” presumably in response to the now week-long media frenzy over her weight gain. The tweet, which she sent out this morning with the note “A Body Revolution 2013,” also seems to be the kick-off for a new mission over at Born This Way Foundation, encouraging her followers to get comfortable in their own skin and overcome the kind of body image issues she’s faced herself. Unless you’re a dirty, dirty tabloid, we can all agree that body snarking on Lady Gaga is deplorable, yes? The pop star has been under scrutiny for her apparent weight gain since performing in Amsterdam earlier this week, but yesterday, she piped up about everyone’s “concerns.” She explained in an interview that she had, indeed gained some weight since taking a break from her touring/training regimen, but she’s not nearly as worried about it as Radar Online and OK! seem to be. Watch out, female celebrities: if you’ve ever expressed a taste for alcohol and ever happened to (maybe) put on a few pounds, the media’s likely to brand you an overweight lush. Radar Online just published a weird, sad, body-snarking article speculating that Lady Gaga‘s (supposed) recent weight gain is due to excessive drinking. I get that gossip sites need to run stories, but this claim seems baseless as well as just plain rude. More

Lady Gaga is once again at the center of controversy–and this time it’s not because of a meat dress or other outrageous attire. This time, the pop star is racking up the attention over a recent tweet where she not only spread a dangerously unhealthy message, but she also stereotyped female celebs as people who don’t eat. More

Lady Gaga revealed her past struggles with bulimia at the “It’s Our Turn” young women’s conference at the Brentwood School, where she turned up as a surprise guest for an interview with Maria Shriver. The singer’s body is constantly the subject of articles about crazy diets (remember her drunk diet?) and workouts (just today, FitSugar posted about how to get her “shapely booty”), but it seems that now, she’d rather help girls overcome eating disorders like the one she suffered as a teen. Looking good is a painful process, especially when it comes to hair. Luxurious coifs and ‘dos in elaborate styles don’t come without big investments of time, money, and effort. Forget the traditional wash n’ cut, today, most women today have dyed, glued, sewn, braided, rolled, clipped, fried, de-frizzed, flattened, curled, chemically relaxed, or even surgically implanted the hair on their heads. After years of constant abuse, your scalp is now paying the price, and not even celebrities are immune. Lady Gaga revealed today that her lovely locks are falling out prematurely due to a “bad romance” with her hair dye (see what I did there?) and will be forced to cool it with the blond ambition for a while. It’s hard to imagine the fame monster without her platinum hair, but then again, reverting to her natural color is preferable to sampling the bald life (although really, I wouldn’t put a stunt like that past her). Still searching for the perfect Halloween costume? Dressing up as Lady Gaga may be contemporary and universally recognizable, but if you’re thinking of trying out her meat dress schtick, experts (i.e. butchers) say don’t go Gaga. The dress she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards — made of 100% chuck — might be the pinnacle of spooky-impressive Halloween costumes this year, but the butchers interviewed below say that wearing raw flank steak is a bad idea. Aside from harboring a salmonella-laced outfit and dripping bloody juices on your friends’ furniture, they also point out that wearing wet meat on a cold Halloween night will put you at risk for hypothermia.
