Another of Cyndi’s Lovely Art Quilts

Cyndi’s art quilts continue to entrall me.  (I must take time in my busy days to try some of her techniques with my scraps.)  Over at Layers Upon Layers, Cyndi has two posts you’ll want to check out.
Making an Art Quilt compares techniques used in two similar quilts.  A technique she used in the beige colored piece consisted of staining with coffee.  (My daughter has used tea to dye some of her fabrics, lace, and other accessories.  I don’t think she’s tried it with coffee.)

Enjoy Superb Creativity in an Autumn Quilt

Cyndi at Layers Upon Layers created a superb piece of art in her September Morning Art Quilt .  The autumn colors, the leaf shaped fabric pieces, the lace, the buttons and the sheet music combine perfectly into a bit of whimsy that truly reminds me of the days of September and October  we just experienced in New Hampshire where I live.
Don’t miss Cyndi’s work of art over at Layers Upon Layers.

Beading Retreats…Do Quilters Attend These?

Cyndi at Layers Upon Layers announced, “I’m going on a beading retreat.“
Now I’ve heard of many types of retreats, but never one for beaders before.  I’m looking forward to Cyndi’s report about her trip to this event about halfway across the USA from where she lives.
Quilters have begun to find beads important as embellishments in their work.  My daughter collects beads and even makes them to add interest to her quilt hangings and fabric art.

What have you been doing with beads?  Have you ever attended a “beading retreat?”

Painting & Dyeing Fabric for Quilting Projects

Over at Layers Upon Layers, Cyndi calls our attention to painting and dyeing fabrics for quilting and other fabric art projects.  Actually her painting involves sun pringing  muslin after painting it.  She refers to Melissa’s blog and her great fabric dyeing techniques and displays.
My daughter enjoys painting and dyeing fabrics and creating all types of unusual designs.  She says it relaxes her.  In fact, she used some of her dyed fabric for her padfolio project, described at her Meandering Threads blog.
