One Million Moms is at it again. This time, they are back on the case of Ellen DeGeneres and JC Penney for their latest commercial. It’s a holiday ad that the moms are calling controversial and offensive to Christians. Frankly, there’s nothing controversial about it, and their beef is probably more about the fact that DeGeneres is a lesbian (something they have condemned in the past). More
It’s not hard to figure out what’s more offensive at Chick-fil-A–their factory-farmed unhealthy sandwiches which are loaded with fat, sodium and calories or their discriminatory stance on gay people. I’ll eat one of their Deluxe Chicken Sandwiches any day if they would back off their homophobic views and accept everyone. But in a recent interview, they clearly don’t intend to do that. Simon Doonan‘s new book Gay Men Don’t Get Fat is the latest buzz in the diet world; just this morning, a friend posted The Guardian‘s article about the gay diet on my Facebook page. I haven’t read the book yet, but this article does a great job of summarizing. Doonan’s book is more a parody of the age-old stereotypes about feminine, masculine, and “gay” foods than scientific diet advice (he’s built his career in fashion, not health care, after all). According to a new study, bisexual women are more likely to suffer from depression and stress than men who are bisexual. In addition, they tend to binge-drink and smoke more than their male counterparts. This leaves many people wondering: Why are these women at a higher risk? The answer could have something to do with the stigma they still face from society. More
In clips from tonight’s upcoming interview with Barbara Walters, Oprah speaks out about rumors that she and Gayle King have a lesbian relationship, telling Barbara Walters: “I’m not lesbian. I’m not even kind of lesbian.” She explains that what hurts her about the rumors is their implication that she’s been lying about their relationship, and that a lesbian lifestyle is “bad” and worth covering up. “That’s not how I run my life,” she said. She later broke down into tears when asked about the nature of her and King’s relationship, saying that she’s the mother she never had and best friend everyone would wish to have. More
