A Note About Our Genbetween Community

I have recently received a few comments that I chose to delete. As has been stated, this is a blog about the trials and struggles of raising a family, while caring for an elderly parent. It is not an easy task, but a worthwhile one. As I write, I am not thinking of how others will view what I say. Other than trying to tie up loose thoughts, my posts are truly an online diary of my life in the sandwich. Sometimes it is a Boursin cheese wrap, with fresh, organic veggies; other times it is Wonder bread and margarine.

This week will start off with another caregiving website that I found. It is called HerMentorCenter.com . This site is more than just a how-to for caregivers. It is more of a nurturing the Sandwich Generation of caregivers, by giving them tools to help themselves.

I neglected to hit send yesterday, so today will have two entries. Happy holidays, everyone!

I have to say, not one thing can escape her eagle eye. She watches that tiny baby, only 1 step away at all times. It is great to see grandma …read more
Changes to the sandwich
At Life in the Sandwich, Susan Ito has a poignant essay about the changes in her life as her daughter heads off to college:
There are six days left until five of us board an airplane that will take us two thousand miles away, and a few days after that, only four of us will return. Our sandwich is thinning, and the turmoil I’m feeling is barely describable.
“Packing” is a must read.
