Furniture that does secret hiding double duty organizing

My TV stand is actually a chest. It was my grandma’s chest, and I love it. It needs to be re-sanded and oiled, but it does well as a TV stand. Of course my TV is not that large so it sits well on this chest along with the DVD player. The best thing about my chest is that it does double duty. It’s packed full of boxes I want to keep; such as old baby clothing and a few other things.
Here are some pieces of furniture you can use as basic furniture pieces, and also use to store stuff …read more
Remote Control Storage

This is really more of a fantasy remote control storage, because I’m not sure who would use it. I don’t think I’d like to display remotes on my wall like some art object, but then again, I haven’t been a huge TV fan since X-Files ended, so…
Now, what do you think? I originally saw this remote holder at one of my favorite blogs, the genius MoCo Loco, and they think it needs more holders, because what type of house has just three remotes? Do you agree? I do actually only have two remotes at my house, but my house …read more

Have you ever been sitting in a room of your house and all of a sudden, it hits you that it needs to be changed? That happened to me today, so my husband and I spent a few minutes rearranging our living room.
You see, we live in a pretty small house for a family of 5. We also both work out of our home, which we love, but space is definitely an issue for us. My husband has an office set up in the back of the house, but he doesn’t use it much because, well, it’s in the back …read more

Yes, I seriously want one of these. I want to eliminate as much paper from my life as possible and this baby would do it. Here’s my review of the HP TouchSmart PC.
The HP TouchSmart PC is the first all in one PC that has wireless capabilities, can help manage busy family schedules and entertain all within the same unit. Put this in your kitchen or living room and keep the whole family connected and organized.
Pros
•It’s functional, simple and easy to use.
•It has a large 19 inch touchscreen.
•It helps eliminate loose post-it notes and to-do lists.
•All in one pc …read more
Tip of the Day #27

It’s a good idea to stick to a “3 items on coffee table rule”. A messy coffee table can make your whole living room/family room look very cluttered.
Take a look and see what is cluttering up the surface. If it’s magazines, tissue box, toys and remotes, find some alternative solutions to storing those items. The magazines could go in a basket under the coffee table. The toys need to be put back where they belong. The tissue box can stay, as long as it’s one of the 3 items and as far as the remotes, store them in a decorative …read more
50 Organizing Products to Add a Touch of Fall Color to Your Home

I live in the Augusta, Georgia area and we woke up Sunday morning to the most refreshing temperatures. It was actually in the 70’s! We have had our doors open, letting that fresh air in ever since. I just hope it sticks around.
There are so many things that I love about fall: the food, the cooler weather, every one seems friendlier (why is that?), but probably my favorite thing about it is that I get to decorate with my most favorite colors: mustard yellow, burgandy, green and brown. I love those colors and you’ll found them throughout my home year …read more

The other day I did a post on the Monet Single Bike Folding Rack and I was saying how I needed one of those because my bike was stolen. Yes, I know, it was a sob story.
Well, today I have a product to show you from the same company that made that bike rack and this is a product I am really excited about. There are a number of reasons I am excited: it serves a purpose every person has, it looks great even when not in use, and it has a coupon code for Declutter It! readers.

The Backpack and Purse Dilemma

I can’t stand things on the floor. It just drives me crazy. Now that we are back in school, I have 3 backpacks and 3 lunchboxes to do something with. I also have my purse that needs a home.
I used to keep these things in our hall closet, but that has since been taken over by our board games and scrapbooking items. So all last week the backpacks and my purse were being put on the floor and it was just really bothering me.
I remembered we had an old armoire that I don’t really like, but it can temporarily serve …read more
